Possible memory issues???
My loss of short term memory is driving me nuts. I can't remember where I put it. Seriously, I've gotten worse the further out from surgery. All of my labs are good so it's not deficiency. I can't remember what movie I saw 4 days ago or who was in it. I get scared because my mom was early onset altzheimers. My son assures me that my memory and mental agility is just fine. I'll go with that!

I think it's pretty common to have memory loss as we get older and also when there is stress in our lives. WLS brings good things but it brings change and change is stressful.
I started having memory issues BEFORE surgery. I figured that it was just the stress and discombobulation of having surgery (and the lack of sleep) and it would get better post-op. Well, it didn't. At least not right away.
At some point, I realized that while I was making all these changes to my life and my habits, I had lost one good habit...the habit of making lists. I read an article that said, if we don't write things down, we constantly are thinking about them so we won't forget them and that makes us forget other things.
So I went back to making lists and it helped my memory a lot.
I'm also 3 years out and that makes a difference too. My sleep patterns are (mostly) back to normal. My life is more settled. Everything isn't so new and my eating and exercise habits are more fixed and require less energy to maintain. I think all that helps.

I'm a list maker, too... I have to write it down to have a remote chance of remembering it. So I write "to do" symbols on meeting minutes, write it again on my "master to do" and then again...on a process sheet... I'm freaky like that. Then I still forget. I hope this too shall pass!!! AND quick... Thanks, Mac!

Well, obviously, since you recognize the potential problem of not remembering you have a list, you can solve it by writing the word 'List' backwards on your forehead so you can see it in the mirror. Hopefully you are like me and never pass up a chance to use the restroom, and VOILA!, there it will be for you to see when you wash your hands.
