Hello!

I'm looking for shelter from the storm, and I'm hoping I'm welcome here!

I've been flamed royally by the gang on the Main Board this weekend because I actually dared stand up to them- it's the board that newbies first come to when they are seeking out the possibilities of WLS, and they often get such crap. I feel like I've been swimming in a sewer. I think I'm going to stay on the board, though, to see what I can do about offering clean support.

At any rate, I am a lightweight, have lost 100+ lbs, and have been at goal weight for several months maintaining successfully. I am active on the RNY board, and get wonderful support there.

I look forward to hanging out with you all if you will have me!

Welcome AnneGG. I have found that this is a great board. We talk about everything here and I have not found anyone that gives you crap about what you post. They are very helpful. It was great for me because I had a few problems with one of the other boards as well.

Welcome. I had the same experience a couple of times. Brush them off and keep it moving.

Friendly folks here and nothing but support. Congrats to you and your success.

Hi Anne, Thanks for standing up to them. The DS crowd (assuming that is who you are referring to) actually had me questioning that I selected RNY the other day, and I researched it a TON and know it's RIGHT for me... but they are so dang insistent... I just try to avoid them.

Good for you!  RNY is what is best for me as well.  My co-morbidities would have gotten worse with a DS.  DS is better for many individuals with diabetes, something I did not have.  The choice of surgery needs to be made with in depth knowledge of the specific patient, and the risks that that patient has.

This is a great board....check out the lightweight creed....Gina posted it just a few days ago.

This board is supportive and non-judgemental and we have all weights and surgeries on here supporting ONE another.

The lightweight creed makes my heart go pitter-pat and my insides clap for joy! Maturity! Adults! Kindness! Compassion! True support!

I wish all that creativity the Main Board gang have been exhibiting could go to something constructive. It is ugly and unnecessary, and yes, it does demonstrate capacity of a person. It's playing cheaply and at the expense of some in order to create a sense of solidarity.

It's a good thing I have developed a rhino skin- I've taken a long hot shower and I'm better than new.

And now with all of your warm and understanding welcome, I am ready to roll!

Thanks!
