 You can run faster. I am doing interval training with a heart monitor...on the treadmill and I have increased my speed on my long distance runs...you have to read up on it..it's a way to make your heart work more efficiently by increasing your heart rate for short bursts....it has helped my regular running pace so that I can do races and not take forever...my joints can't take it...

I'm 60 and I run, too! I made it to 5 miles a month or so ago and now run it daily, and I think that's going to be my limit.
