Any VSG revision to DS?

I plan to get a revison.  I had the VSG back in 2009.  I did not lose that much weight, never reached my goal.

I'm really thinking about going for the DS instead of the RNY.

Please tell me how you are doing with your DS.  Also, do you have any acid reflux?

That is my problem right now with the Sleeve major acid reflux.  I have a hiatal hernia.  Plan to get that fixed and hopefully the DS at the same time.  I know that my bmi is only 37 or so.  I'm still going to see if BCBS Federal will approve it.

Thanks for your replies.

That could be a great option for you but you need to find a real honest to God DS surgeon. Please check out the list on www.dsfacts.com . Your surgeon should fix your hiatal hernia at the same time and some surgeons take out the appendix and even the gall bladder when they're in there. What that does is eliminate some of the guess work if you happen to start having unexplainable pains in your gut. Many folk how have WLS of any type can have gall bladder issues and some surgeons will take it the same time as surgery.

Anyway, the DS may be a great option for you and since you're lighter, you may be able to negotiate the length of your common channel. 100cm is routine for some surgeons while others will give LWs a longer one...150 - 200cm. They can also check to see if your sleeve needs to be tightened up while they're in there. Keep us posted.

I am hoping to go with Dr. Daryl Stewart, in North Texas.  I have heard good things about him.

When you say the length of my common channel.  100 or longer 150 - 200 cm what does that do as far as helping the weight loss?  I guess I should go back and read the www.dsfacts.com again.

Appreciate your reply and information.

Thanks.

150 - 200 cm common channel would give you less malabsorption. Probably not the ideal for someone with a previous WLS but an option to discuss with your surgeon. Dr Stewart is a fine surgeon from all I hear.

I will ask Dr. Stewart about it, I'm taking notes so when we talk I will remember what to ask.

Thanks again.
