What do you do when you are in a slump?

Hello LW's,

Been lurking but not posting much lately. Been having a tough time. Hit my one year anniversary and not at goal, not life shattering but disappointing.

I know I am dealing with low thryoid and increasing meds, waiting for some pick up here, been bouncing between 133-137. The last few days mostly 133. Need a few more weeks before getting iron retested, hopefully it will be better this time around. My hands and feet are starting to have some moments of warmth, thank goodness! Maybe this ice princess will melt eventually!

I have also lost a dear friend that I have known since I was 11. We have been friends for 34 years through some terrible and also wonderful times. I find myself grazing. Especially when I am feeling sad. Need another way to cope with this.

And now I seem to have pms from ovulation to the day of aunt flo's arrival!

But, I did get together with my dear friend Joan whom I met here online, had a blast at the mall. She has been a real blessing to me. Actually went into a Sax's 5 avenue and had an amazing sticker shock! Back to walmart for me! Too bad I had such bad pms, we should have played dress up!

Started cooking again (for me) and making meals and packaging them in proper containers, so its grab and go. Trying to limit the grazing. Made a poached cod that was delightful and a vegetable stew for a side with my meats. Grilled some turkey too.

Threw out the pretzels and my beloved saltines (again!) Got some real minty gum to maybe help with the grazing throughout the day. Nothing tastes very good after a piece of polar ice gum. Except for water! (Maybe chocolate, but we wont go there!)

I have been walking and getting to yoga. But need to ramp up my cardio. Will work on this.

What else have you found that gets you out of a slump?

Thanks!

~Maria

Congrats on your one year!!!! You have rocked it, girl!!!!

Spending more time w friends does it for me!!! Glad you had fun shopping -- Goodwill is my new favorite store. I found 3 pair pants, 1 Levis, an Ann Taylor blouse ( for next summer), a knit jacket and Talbots t shirt for $33. Oh and an Operation game for my dtr. Score!!!

Sounds like a solid plan of attack! You can do it!!!

Im sorry about your friend...sounds like you have identified the problem and are starting to make steps to change the problem..thats the hardest part right there! I find that if im grazing I try to do so on healthy foods...I have lots of fruits and veggies I like around, figure if im going to be eating might as well be something good for me that I need anyway..also I find the urge most powerful when I haven't had a good 40 grams of protein in me yet so I try to do that first thing in the morning...Wish  you weren't disappointment about your weight loss though, seems like you have done an awesome job!

Hi Maria!  Glad to see you back hun!

Sorry to hear about your friend and I definitely understand the munchies and snacking...

Sounds like you are doing the right things, and glad you had a good time shopping with your friend.  I too know (when with Gina shopping) I had definite sticker stock from Sax... and that was the OUTLET store!!

I've got my trigger foods too.. and right now they're wheat thins.  While I justify it in my mind (and they don't trigger a Reactive Hypoglycemia 'episode') they still are carbs and calories.....

Keep a positive attitude!!  You're still working it girl!

Maria,
I am so sorry about your friend.  I know how it is to stress eat!!

Sounds like you are getting right back in the good habits.  I did not reach my goal at one year either, so it is still possible.

Exercise really helps me to feel better mood wise.  I have noticed that when I let it drop off, I feel so much worse.

Hang in there - we are all here for you.

well, what I do is log onto OH and see if Italianspice has posted anything. Sorry for the loss of your friend. Its never easy when that happens and makes one do lots of soul searching. Last time I lost a long time friend I overheard a couple talking about him passing so young. The lady tells they guy, " it's not how long you live, it's HOW you lived." Made me think.
