Walked in on a burgler!!!
Getting ready for bed and it does have me a little freaked out

My hubby went today and got new locks for the shed and we locked up everything so I know nothing will happen tonight~but still thinking about it!! No problems in 11 years so I doubt something would happen two nights in a row!
I am traveling tomorrow to MT....thankfully it is not me having to stay home alone tomorrow.
Night all.....
Thanks GOD you were up and scared them off! I do believe things happen for a reason like how you had got up that day when you normally would be asleep. So scary, you never know what desperate folks or people on drugs will do!! You should look into getting an alarm, it only costs us $30 a month, but the cost totally justifies the piece of mind knowing we are safer with it than without it.... no matter where you live. So glad you are all okay!

"Create your day"
I agree an alarm is a good idea, but for heaven's sake don't post a sign in your front yard advertising what security company you are with. The schematics for those alarms are not necessarily kept under lock and key and it gives the bad guys more info than they need. A generic sign, if any, will suffice. My thought is NO sign so they can be caught unawares.
or, better yet, my favorite sign:
"Trespassors will be shot! Survivors will be shot again!"
LOL
Glad you're okay Amy... it could have turned out so very differently.

I LOVE that sign . Unless ure running for office or planning to in the future ,,, CRAZY is the BEST deterrent lol.... respected in ALL communities LOL ...
just go NUTZ

too often the originator is someone U know like a aquaintaince of a neighbor or someone U have let into Ur house socially ( friends of teenagers are notorious and often the parents dont even know about the original visit ) ...
the important thing is that they dont see U as an easy target with few consqequences because it statistically often happens again . And yes , catching a burglar in the act even a teenage one can be deadly .
Dont mean to scare U .... but be careful and take steps to ensure that it doesnt happen again .
What I did was hook up a big screaming whoop-whoop siren to my alam system poweredby a 6 volt battery in my attic - I also put spotlights in the eaves with motion detectors that come on when people walk near my more vulnerable windows . ( and a motion detector/light combo on both the front and the back door ) This has kept my A.P. house safe for YEARS largely empty in a very housebreak prone area .

Scary thing was is that it wasdaylight out aready....about 6:15am!! Who tries to rob a house in the daylight? Obviously they weren't the brighest of thieves. Plus they were parked right out front of our house.
My neighbors are all pretty protective people, one even calls in to the police any cars on our block that he doesn't recognize. That is why I was so shocked that someone was in our shed/garage.
The police said that since we park our cars in the garage at night and most of our neighbors don't that the thugs probably thought we were gone for the holiday weekend. If they were looking for tools...probably in search of easy things to pawn.
We have been thinking about downsizing...maybe now is the time!
