32.4 lbs down since July 25th

I am a lightweight... started off 185.6lbs before pre-op liquid diet... Just wondering how I compare in my weight loss speed with others who started out like me? I am FINALLY on the next stage of diet (soft foods) but was on liquids pretty much the entire last month (except for some cottage cheese, yogurt, etc). So far, I've introduced chicken and a few other things into my diet. I guess I'm slightly worried this will slow me down even more... Or will it? I had my VSG outside the US and do not have a nutritionalist... just rely on my surgeon and my own research and the support of this group. Does anyone have a breakdown of the amount of cals/carbs/protein/sugar, etc they follow every day?
Thanks guys!

Sounds like you're doing great. I'm sure some VSG folks will have some good ideas for your food progression but you seem like you're spot on to me. Congratulations on your weight loss so far!

congrats on your loss to date.  I didn't have a sleeve but I shoot for 100g of protein now, probably was around 80 at your stage.  We weren't to count anything but protein and fluid.  Don't worry about anything slowing you down.  You will slow down on your own, can't lose a pound a day forever, huh.  just slowly add new foods, keeping protein first, limiting simple carbs, eating about 1/4c protein, 1/4c veggies/fruit and you will do fine.

Thank you! I like the simplicity of that approach... I find myself counting everything using Myfittnesspal.com which is great, but at the same time maybe making me obsess a little too much. Between trying to fit the water and the protein in, it seems like one or the other suffers depending on the day.

Congratulations on your 32.4 pounds!!  That is wonderful.

I shoot for over 80 grams of protein a day usually closer to 100 or more.  You need some carbs, but try to make sure they are the good carbs and not white carbs.

You are doing great so far.

Most people on the VSG board suggest around 40 carbs a day.  You are doing great!
