Now I understand!!

Today I finally understand what you guys have been talking about when you say people are saying things like " How much weight do you need to loose?" and "You need to stop." I guess it was the outfit that I had on but I had several people comment on me today. I was called skinny and asked questions like "How much more weight do you need to loose?" and "What size are you trying to get down to?" I looked at them like they were crazy. I'm wearing a size 12 or 14 now. I am no where near skinny. Now I'm thinking "was I really that fat?" It's amazing how others see you. I also had a lady that I have been on several committees with in the last 4 years treat me like she had never met me. I had to say "It's me, Toni." Then she said, you look so different, what did you do. I said, I lost weight. I felt like saying "Duhh!!" Anyway, I don't like the attention. I wish I could be treated like regular Toni. I can't wait to get around people who didn't know me before. I am not comfortable with the attention. That sounds strange doesn't it? Oh well, I guess I have always been a little different.

i've gotten pretty use to being told I look great.  I think I will miss it when everyone gets use to me being little. 

I most love it when someone says "you've cut your hair"    yes, and lost 100 lbs. 

Price I know it sounds strange but I would rather they just kept it to themselves. The attention makes me uncomfortable. I'm used to comments on my abilities not my looks.

Eventually, they will get used to seeing the new you. For awhile, one of the doctor's that I work with, said that he had to do a double take, whenever he saw me. That was 30 lbs ago.

People aren't used to seeing you with less weight, so that is reason behind the comments. Just smile and say, "Thank you." It will get easier. I wasn't comfortable with the attention, but it does lessen and people get used to the new you. The strangest thing, is when someone hasn't seen me for the last year. They are shocked and almost don't recognize me. Just be prepared for that.

Thanks Gail for understanding. I know I should be happy but I am really uncomfortable with the attention. It will take some getting used to. I don't mind, "you look nice" but when they keep going on and on I want to say "Did I look that bad when I was a size 20?" LOL

They are all so used to seeing a different you.  Please don't let them persuade you to stop loosing weight during your honeymoon period!!

I'm over two years out and it still feels strange when someone I don't know tells me that I am so tiny!!  That has never been a word that I would have described me with.

Congratulations on your smaller sizes.  Of course, we would like to see that great looking outfit also!!

Thanks Linda. I posted it on my page last month but I have lost a little more weight so I must look different in it. It's the black jacket, the black stripe shirt and the black pants. I'm not worried about it because I haven't reached my goal yet. I'm not too far from it but I will get there and keep it off. Then they will get used to me and it will be comments like "nice outfit".

I HATED the attention up until recently..I even wore clothes a little bigger just so I wouldn't get the attention, then I thought well thats kind of silly I have to feel good about ME and everyone else can just go fly a kite..so now when they say "wow! you look amazing, you are so tiny!" I say "thank-you!" and mean it...I think it will get better for you too, I started getting that "your too thin" around size 12 or 14 and I knew that wasn't where I wanted to be and apparently all those people think I look even better a size 4

Thanks Aspan, I know most people love the attention. I will work on it. For me these mental challenges are worse than the eating challenges. I'm going through so much mentally. Who new I was so messed up! LOL

I totally get this!!! I knew I before surgery that I would not like all the attention about losing weight.  I have done better with this than I thought.  Mostly, I just say thank you, I appreciate you saying that and then I just move on the conversation.  Like you, I just see me, as the same me, just smaller.   I do feel so much better at my current size and SO appreciate being smaller and healthier.  Some people love the attention and external validation and we just don't.   There is a dr that I work with and she constantly says, "hey skinny".  Drives me crazy when she says this in front of a large group at the beginning of a meeting.  Again, I acknowedge the comment and then move on.  Luckily, MOST people don't make a big deal about it.
