Home from the hospital - let the healing begin!
I just got home after a one night stay at Northwestern for the internal hernia repair surgery. Although it was not fun to have the abdominal pain attack on my birthday, I am now grateful it happened or I might not have know about the hernia. My surgeon said that half of my small intestine was crammed into the mesocolon area. It can be dangerous if undetected.
Compared to the RNY, the procedure was a breeze. Of course, I am on hydrocodone so I am feeling little pain. My only complaint is that I am exhausted. My heart rate is very low (49-51) since losing the weight, and this created quite a stir last night at the hospital. I was awakened even more than usual to check my vitals. Each time I explained that the heart rate was due to my fitness level, and my cardiologist was unconcerned. Still, I appreciated the way the hospital staff paid attention. The nurses were just terrific.
So I am back home safe and sound with the kitties. I was going to stay at my friends this week, but one of them came down with a cold. With the assistance of another friend, I am ready with food to eat and books to read, and my next door neighbor will take care of any heavy lifting. It should not be a big deal. I can hardly wait for bedtime!!!
I hope everyone is having a good week.

What a relief!! I am so glad that it all went smoothly and that you are feeling relatively okay. Bummer that this happened but good they found it and fixed it. You have a great attitude and things will be back to normal soon.
Hang in there and read while you rest!!
