A question about HIPAA violations (regarding my mad mad mad post)
I kind of doubt it does. You can certainly read the regulations on line if you can read government gobble d goook. I think it actually only applys in the health care setting, not school. But schools should also have confidentiality rules. I know what I can say about my clients is very different from what I can say about my staff. Health care vs personnel regulations. I don't know the educational rules.

Y'know... I'm just wondering... now that it's said and done ... if anybody else is giving it the time of day like it's bugging you. Probably not since it's not them it happened to. I betcha a few said to themselves, "Oh! So *that's* why she's looking so good. Kewl." and then forgot all about it.
It goes to show that we can't trust people to remember the "this is confidential" part of the sentence and we mustn't say or write anything that we don't want to take a chance on being repeated. The only people I know of that are so well versed in privacy concerns that generally they never break the rules (without losing their job) are bankers and Human Resource managers.
I say Hallelujah! We're only as sick as our secrets and now your secret is out! Rejoice and get on with the beautiful day it is.
Ok. Feel free to slap me anytime. heh heh Just my little humble opinion Rebecca...
Seriously though, there's too many good things that deserve your attention... Maybe you can consider letting this one go?

I doubt HIPAA rules apply, but there may be a way to make FERPA rules apply. Those say that a school employee can not reveal any information about a students grades or behavior to anyone other than the student. Usually behavior means class attendance or things like that, but you might could make an argument that you were out of class for a medical procedure and she did not have the right to tell anyone other than yourself anything about it.
