I HATE my new surgeon. 1 yr appt***Long Rant***
Apparently my surgeon was deployed so I am issued a new surgeon to look after me. I DO NOT LIKE HER!
I can't stress how much I do not like her enough. I will start with my weight, I was 125
ticks me off because 2 days earlier I was 122. Mother nature visited and voila, 3 extra unwanted pounds... No longer on the "Normal" spectrum, but it is reachable. I was super happy about this, she was not (more to come) Although I have officially lost 78% of the extra weight I had.
She was in love with my labs, it looks as if I absorb very well, was something messed up, not sure. Just started taking my D3 5000 every day 2 months ago and already my levels are up to 63, 2 months ago they were 22. Gonna have to try to get it a bit higher to feel better but apparently I absorb very well.
My G-tube spot has been hurting me since it was pulled out, she wants to jus****ch it and see what happens. I think it is added skin pulling on it, she doesnt. I am NOT up for an exploratory surgery to find out.
The part that has me pissed, I asked her the reason she may think I am not able to eat. (Just to verify, I CAN eat, im not hungry, and when I do eat it is only 3 oz and I am full for MANY HOURS later) Her reply was " With your history, is this really an issue?" WTF Yes it is an issue. ...
I told her yes it was because I used to be able to eat 6 oz and I would like to get in enough to maintain my weight and be healthy,
She said, "Well you are still overweight and until you get past 94 pounds, I am not going to worry about it, in fact I would like to see you at 95 pounds"
Me- Do you really think this is realistic, I am 36 yrs old and have 4 children
Her- Yes because you are short and you should be no bigger than that ever, in fact I believe most americans should shoot for a lower weight than what is recommended in the BMI chart
ME- Can I at least shoot for 110, it is more realistic in my mind
Her- No I want you at 95 pounds
OK SHE CAN GO TO HECK AND KISS MY A$$ ON HER WAY DOWN! WTH! How DO I get to that point? I have struggled to even make it this far, I used to be so happy and content, now I truly do not know what to think. She wants me back in November and wants me down another 20 by then.... Can I give up? Girls/Guys I need help here. Oh and she never gave me any ideas on what to do to help me eat more or any reason as to why I have so much restriction *sigh*
All this while we sit through an earth quake that totally MOVED the walls in this HUGE hospital, most places evacuated but we did not.

Um...hmmm...I think your body is in control of how much you're going to lose with restriction like you have. And another thing, bone structure has to be taken into account. We can be short but it doesn't mean we are small-boned. Just keep trying to impress her with your labs and don't worry about her goal. Work on your protein and keep your fluids up....be healthy!

Remember that you have some voice in this as well. Are you in a large enough area where you can look for another bariatric practice? Can you switch surgeons within this practice? Is there a good Physician's Assistant in your current practice? It is most important to be healthy. You can look up the numbers yourself - studies have shown that on average, weight loss surgery doesn't take off all the excess weight. My surgeon went over these numbers in detail with me pre-op. Today I went over my goals with my primary care doctor, and he was very informed about the outcomes of the surgery and had realistic expectations as well.

Seriously, I wish sometimes we can tell medical personnel to go pound sand!!! I am short 5' 2" to be exact and shooting for the lower end of the spectrum is saying that you will gain it back later so go as low as you can now. You have had so many issues that at this point you need to do what is right for you. I can only eat small amounts of dense proteins but tons of not so dense proteins so I try to find a happy medium. it is frustrating, and I feel for you. I got very little guidance from my surgeons office after my surgery and it is disappointing.
Hang in there I hope it gets better..,.hugs..

I think sometimes we have to take these things with a grain of salt. When I was obese, I had to discard some of the things doctors said just because I was obese and ignoring other aspects of me.
I think your doctor is ignoring other aspects of you. Just move on--you know what's right for you. Who says we have to look like 15-year-olds anyway?

I'm 4'11" and no one is asking me to weigh 95lbs. My surgeon said 130. If I get to 110 I will be very very surprised. I know I have a large bone structure and that is part of it but lets get real. 95 isn't real. Is she that thin? Geeze, you have had to deal with so much. Now this kook. I'm sorry.
