Feeling good but still tired
I am so proud of myself today!!! I got 78 grams of protein in orally!!!! I also got almost all of my fluid in orally! I'm still having to infuse some fluids through the tube. My pouch just isn't big enough yet!!! lol
I've been trying small amounts of different foods on my acceptable foods list, and I've found that most things go down and stay down just fine. The problem is that I still can only eat a tablespoon or so at a time and it fills me up for hours. Then I don't get my fluids or protein in for the day. I'm not stressing out about it. I've just backed off on the solids until I heal a bit more. Solid food isn't going anywhere. It will still be there in a few days or a few weeks when I can try again. I feel good that nothing I tried made me sick or made me dump. I feel positive that once my pouch heals and stretches some more, food won't be a problem for me!
I'm still super tired and the infection around the tube still hurts. It's slooowly getting better so the new antibiotics are starting to work. Last couple of days, I've slept till I woke up ( no alarms for me!), napped when I felt like I needed to, and walked when I felt like it for only as long as I wanted to. I have become a bum! lol But I am a bum that feels better!
Things are looking up!!! I'm starting to believe that this will pass!! I can almost see the healthy active lifestyle that I'm working for!!! And if anyone else tries to tell me that WLS is the easy way out, I will refrain from slapping them and give them a sternly worded speech instead!!! LOL
Thanks again everybody! Your support means the world to me! -Julie

Great news. You will have that tube out in no time if you keep progressing like this. It is good when you start feeling better and you will keep getting better each day.

Eliza, I have the same issue right now. It's just so hard to get all that protein in! I'm not dehydrated but maybe the inabllity to get all this protein in explains why I am so tired all the time (not to mention school just started back full force with my students!). It takes me most of the morning to get my ready-to-drink shake down and then it's time to drink some more!
Thanks guys! You always make me feel so much better!!
@ Eliza- I have a stopwatch app on my phone. I set it to go off every 15 minutes and I drink every time it goes off. At first drinking was sooo difficult for me, but now it's more about remembering when I am still feeling a little queasy. I'm about a week ahead of you but I know how hard it still is for me sometimes. Just keep sipping. Often! It will work itself out! Whowoulda thunk that simply drinking would be so difficult!! It will get better!
