i've heard a lot about wendys chili, and am excited to try some- any chili, really!  i have a couple of good recipes, and have had some with turkey and buffalo meat, AND tofu!  now, thats a protein chili!

yesterday we went to the zoo, and i packed a bento.  had some turkey slices, yogurt, cottage cheese and a hard boiled egg.  didnt get thru most of it- concentrated on staying hydrated!  the turkey and cottage cheese felt really good though.

the eggs went down pretty well this morning, but maybe they 'do something' down there that i can only have a little bit of them at a time...  the cheese melted in helps, i think.

You are still very early out.  I remember feeling the same way, that I would never enjoy food again, that it has been relegated to body fuel and nothing else.
I am happy to say that after about 6 months it started to get better.  Now I can go out to eat and enjoy my meal with the best of them.  I can go out to functions and not feel sorry for myself.  I can eat whatever I want as long as I put protein first, which usually fills me up.  I don't eat refined carbs but other then that I tolerate everything I have tried.
I just found a George Foreman grill at a garage sale for $5.  It is one of those outdoor type grills so I can BBQ outside.  I love BBQ but hate messing with charcoal and fluid and all that.  I just bought some steaks and vegies to put on the grill.  I am going to try to grill corn on the cob.  I enjoy trying new recipes.  My challenge is making things my daughter will eat, too.  She runs for the hills at any hint of something being "healthy" so I try to disguise things so she things she is eating the things she likes that aren't good for her.
I used to think that since I could eat so little why bother?  But now I enjoy making things and then freezing them so I always have something handy without too much fuss.
I know it is hard in the first few months but they really do go by quickly.  In no time you will be back to enjoying what you eat even more then before because you will really be able to enjoy what you are eating without feeling guilty about overeating or eating the wrong things.

aaaah, just what i needed to hear!  i cant wait to start cooking!  i'm always at eggfaces blog, lol, just waiting for the day...  my fridge/freezer is already packed, but with things i'm NOT going to eat again, the puddings and jello, yuck!  time to empty it out!  it's stinky in there, too, which isnt helping the wanting to eat mood, lol.

i have a new george foreman grill- inside, though.  i'm so excited to start using it!  what a great find for $5!

i'm just so glad that some are able to really enjoy food after a while.  i hope i can be one of the lucky ones... one who can enjoy, but in moderation!

Thanks for your question. I am having real fear about eating after my surgery. I am worried about how I am going to handle not being able to eat what I want and very little. It is encourging to hear everyone's  stories and how and what helps all of you,

Yes I do.

But from 7 weeks out until 3 months, I was very pissy because I was allowed to eat "regular" food but the portions were so small that I couldn't eat enough to be mentally satisfying.

i think thats my issue now, well, one of them.  i'm liking the foods i am able to eat now, but i just cant take in enough that my mind is happy.  it's saying "three bites?  are you nuts?!"

some things i can eat more of.  cottage cheese.  i had some chicken earlier and that was satisfying.

hubby and i went to the zoo yesterday for our anniversary.  i brought my food and there just wasnt room for him to pack his own.  so... he bought his.  all fried.  i couldnt even have a taste.  it was hard, but i wandered over to the monkeys next to us, and watched them eat their stuff ;-)

It took me a good 8 months to "enjoy" eating again...do I enjoy eating as much as I used to? Nope, not even close. But I do have my favorites, my smoothies, my protein coffees, and salad are the top three..I wanted to "crunch" as well after so when I was ready one of the first crunch things I ate was a salad..and I can eat a lot of salad depending on whats in it..if I put lots of peas it has lots of protein in it too...I still don't enjoy eating meat because of how it feels on my stomach but I eat it anyway..also can't do eggs at all because they get stuck for hours and hours..its so gross! Glad your dog is able to enjoy your meals at least! I think my dog put on a good five pounds since my surgery..lol

Bless your heart!  I remember feeling EXACTLY how you feel.  To be honest, I didn't enjoy eating again until about 2 months out.  Keep trying new things though.  I PROMISE you'll enjoy eating again......drink your protein shakes too (they always made my tummy feel better!)
Hang in there!
