i'm always having hopes that THIS meal i will be able to really enjoy.  it hasnt happened yet.  the textures and flavors are great, but it seems like three bites in i need to stop.  i just tried to have 1 scrambled egg with a bit of turkey sausage and some cheese to make it slide down better.  i was able to eat half of what i made.

on another note, my dog is happy ;-)

Yes, I do enjoy eating at this point. I'm eating most things I like (real milk is still the exception).

And other than portion size, my meals are not that much different from pre-op. I had to be super careful of carbs then cause they raised my blood sugar, still will but the resulting gas is a bigger problem if I overindulge.

I'm sorry you are still not enjoying your food...

Eating was hard for me the first 6 months and I still eat very small meals...more like snacks with shakes. Hang tough, things will get better.

Be VERY careful with cereal...it's striaght carbs and can result in reactive hypoglycemia...

My crunch is celery with peanut butter.

i dont know why they even list cereals!  i'm looking at the list again.  for starches it has

hot cereal with skim milk (1/2 cup)
special k cereal soaked in skim milk (3/4 cup)
mashed sweet potatoes (1/3 cup)
squash (1/2 cup)
whole wheat crackers (2 small)
pita (1/2 of a small)

now, the pita i may be able to eat a bit of with a protein filling...  the crackers?  2 of them?  nope, so i'm not going there!  and, yeah, right the RH is frightening!  dont want to go there at all!

thanks for telling me your crunch!  love it!  not there yet, but love it!

I think the farther out you get the more you can enjoy your meals(sometimes a little too much!!).

I still have pretty good restriction on proteins.  I can eat a lot of carbs so I have to be very careful with them.

I use protein drinks because I like to eat salads(I do put protein on most of my salads) and things like that at meals sometimes and need to make sure I get my protein in every day.  I do mostly do protein first still followed by veggies and fruit.  I hope I can never eat as much as I did before WLS.  I can eat pretty much anything I want to eat only just in smaller portions.

one thing i am dreaming of is a turkey burger with lettuce wrap!  yum!  yeah, i'm nervous about being able to eat how much i could before... i'm not there yet, LOL!  hubby always is amazed when i put my single serve yogurt away after eating only a few bites!

what protein drinks do you like???  still have such a hard time gagging them down.  i have recipes that will bring them to a better point- i hope- but i would like to be able to drink them without all the syrups and added stuff!

At almost 3 years out, at goa,l and maintaining....I still feel exactly what you are describing!!  Yesterday we went to a breakfast buffet and  I ate very little of the protein on my plate.  When I look at food I have an appetite but when I sit down to eat I rarely (especially meat) get more than a few bites in.  I have found that if I have a repeat of something that settled good, like fajati meat at Chili's, that I can get more down but if I've had trouble with it in the past I might as well not even try.

That's why I snack on cheese, eat a lot of Wendy's chili, and soup because I can finish the whole thing with no problems.  It is surprising how carbs go down easily so when I'm hungry I have to have other things available or that's what I grab.

Scrambled eggs have been my worse nightmare through this whole process. They don't digest well and stay stuck forever.  I've actually thrown them up a day later.

My DH gets so mad because our dog sits by my seat because he knows he is going to get my leftovers. To bad DH takes all of the good stuff like steak....LOL
