Low bmi too drastic??

I have several friends *****vised from a band at GOAL weight. They knew that they'd gain all their weight back if they didn't.

Don't listen to people who don't understand. Most people think that surgery is only for the super morbidly obese. They also think we could lose weight if we just had more discipline even though science says that's not true.

Also, I'd report those people at the hospital. Their comments are completely inappropriate and they should *know better*.

I am scheduled for a revision from the lapband on 9/26. I too had my band placed almost 3 years ago. I am 25 ibs from goal and my BMI is 27 right now. My insurance approved a revision to RNY. I have had two slips and currently am completely unfilled for the second time. I am trying my hardest not to gain - its hard. I know I need the revision to maintain my weightloss even if I don't lose much more. Good luck! Keep us posted - we seem to have quite a bit in common!!!

Hope your day is great!

This is  a very interesing question .   my  Bmi was really  around this  - i gained weight  to get up to 35  and get my  RNY .  BUT  I consider myself very much more  Morbidly Obese  prone or metabolically challenged than  my  BMI alone would indicate  .

This is because i reached my top weight  with an  EXCELLENT  healthy diet of  whole grains  , the leanest meats , basically  fat free  extremely high fiber and  almost all  thecarb acloriescoming from  vegetables and  abit of fruit .  I als o excercised daily   and HARD .

So  it wasn't ME  it was my BODY ...... and  the mini - RNY  my surgeon choseto give  because of my low BMI just isnt  doing the trick at all  ....

I KNEW  i needed  a DS  even before  I got my RNY .   NOw  I just have no idea  how i can get one with a perfectly normal (  but  waaay too heavy for my very light frame  )  BMI .

How can you say you are way too heavy at 5'9 and 125pounds?  If you go by any weight chart, you are underweight, not overweight and your BMI even puts you as underweight.

Why on earth would you want to have further surgery to make you lose more surgery especially a drastic surgery like the DS?  You list yourself as needing to lose 10 more pounds, which I fail to see why on earth anyone at 5'9 could even fathom wanting to weigh 115 pounds but to have more surgery to lose 10 pounds - I just don't get it?

You say you are a size 2, how much smaller do you expect to get?

I am 5'6 and 128 pounds and struggling to gain weight.  I eat all day long and high calorie foods and can't gain an ounce,.  I had to go onto pancreatic enzymes last week just to try to gain some weight and hopefully start absorbing my foods.  Appreciate where you have gotten - you look great, please don't get too thin - I know it isn't fun.
