Jogging Again? Who Me?

I haven't been jogging since the last time I ran my Air Force PT test in 2006.  I promised myself that I would start jogging once I got below 200lbs.  I've been under 200 for several months, but have lacked the ambition to run.  My girlfriend and I have been walking 3 days a week since my surgery, but today she couldn't make it.  I went alone.

I walked up the extremely steep hill in front of my house and looked at the downhill.  I decided then and there that I would try to jog the downhill.  And I did!  I ended up jogging 1.5 miles of our 2 mile route.  (Followed by a cooling dip into the pool for some stretching).
Yay Me!   I'm doing my happy dance this morning.

I wasn't fast, but I did it!  I feel great.  My legs are feeling a little tired, but the endorphins are active and pumping me up.

It was a great way to start my morning.  Back in the day, I would start my day with a 3 mile jog.  This morning made me feel like I can get there again.

I'm so excited for you!!!   I find myself running all of the time now.  From the car to the stores (people probably think I'm crazy, but who cares), to the mailbox, after the grandkids....it is so freeing!!

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

Other than my ponies, running was my favorite exercise for a couple of years.  then my hips broke down.  I really did love it but know now, no way.  So go for it.  Just be careful.  You don't want to permanantly injure something.

Great job Kay! Congrats, great nsv!
I keep kicking around the idea of doing a couch to 5k, but cant seem to do it. Never been a jogger, but maybe you make me want to try!

Way to go Kay!!!
I'm also working on it slowly but surely.  I'm still pretty slow, but it makes me feel soooo good. Congrats.

Congrats!

I used to hate running but now I love it. I think the trick is not to go so fast that you feel like you are going to barf up a lung.

OMG! I remember that feeling!  I was 18 and running my first mile ever for my ROTC PT test.  Started way too fast and tried to keep up an impossible pace. I may have left a "gift" for the next set of runners.

I'm a little older and wiser these days.  :-)

okay....that made me laugh!  barf up a lung!  love it!

my little sis who has done 1/2 marathons (just barely) and my older brother who does full marathons (easily) both told me to go slow and the distance will come.  I am up to 1.5 miles (on a good day... lol).  NEVER been a runner so this is HUGE for me....training for Ragnar Relay in January.....will do the three shortest spans (three 3 mile spans) and I PRAY I can do this....

good for you Kay!!!!!
