I reached my goal this morning!! I am 6 months and one week out. I have been able to go off all my blood pressure meds, cholestreol meds and I dont have heartburn and acid reflux anymore! All you vets tell me how hard it is to keep it off? Will I continue to lose till one year out? I wouldnt mind if I lost a few more pounds just to have some weight to play with once the malabsorption stops.I am really afraid to eat ANYTHING that is not on Phase 4. I refuse to eat breads because breads and pasta are my downfall. I plan to say "pass" from now on on those. I make spaghetti with spaghetti squash and I love it so its not like im doing without. Come on gang give me some tips! :)

hurray, hurray.  good for you.

I have met goal several times now and keep adjusting.  I'm not trying maintainance yet, just keep on keeping on.  I hope I will lose a little more for bounce back room.

Looks like we both started out within a pound of each other Way to go for you too. Im actually amazed because I posted the same post on the RNY board last night and after 119 folks have looked at it only one person has responded! What's up with that? No congrats and no vets lending me any advice on how to keep it off or answering my question as to whether I will continue to lose. This board is MUCH nicer! Keep up the good work and thanks for responding.

That is GREAT!! CONGRATS!!!

I am in the same boat...at goal but want to lose a few more :) I also wonder how hard it will be in maintenance....I hardly ever feel hungry (probably because I eat/drink so much protein...I just hope that if I keep doing what I'm doing that maintenance will be doable without too much suffering!

I have found that as long as I avoid the refined carbs, such as bread and sugar, it is not hard to maintain the weight loss.  In fact I keep losing.  I blew past my first goal, 140lbs, my second goal, 120lbs and am over 10lbs below that.  I am feeling good and hoping that my weight will stabilze.  I am just over a year out so I should be done losing.
I also don't have reflux anymore.  I used to live on Prilosec and now I haven't needed it since 3 months out when my doctor put me on it to avoid ulcers.
Just keep doing what you are doing and you should be fine.

Congrats!

I kept losing until I felt like I was too thin and then I started adding in calories. I kind of which I hadn't done that but just saw where it too me but who knows...

Anyway, these days I just eat when I'm hungry, a variety of foods, treats a couple of times a week and I maintain. The only thing I struggle with is getting enough protein.

Why do you have problems getting your protein in? How do you fuel your workouts?? Sometimes, I feel like I am eating to fuel my workouts.

If I just eat what I want, I tend to eat more carbs and less protein. I have to remind myself to eat protein-based snacks.

When I am working, I have a protein shake most morning for breakfast and I pack a bunch of food that includes a lot of protein to eat during the day. When I'm at home all the time, I tend to just grab stuff that's easy so I am not getting my protein shake and I'm eating nuts and protein bars and popcorn and fruit instead of cottage cheese, greek yogurt, a lean protein and veggie for lunch, etc.
