not doing too well

i know i'm not doing the best on my protein and fluids, and i keep trying to do better each day- it's what people keep saying for early outs like me.  i'm at a loss.

i just put some unflavored powder in my sobe 0, and i think i can get this down, so i may be able to get 7 g protein from this alone, if i can drink the whole bottle (and i think i can, i think i can, it's still early, yet!).

i've been munching on lots of ice the last few days for fluid, knowing i need more, and drinking even from the ounce cups, my belly has been feeling so full and yuckie.

i go to see my NUT tomorrow and i am so nervous, BUT i have been trying to get the proteins from food (which she also may yell at me for, since i havnt been "cleared" for these things, but HAVE been cleared for "baby food" so have been pureeing the heck outa things.

so, looking at yesterday food/liquid log (and, please, i'm VERY sensitive right now, folks)

have had a LOW grade fever of about 99.5 since surgery, on the first.  i am normally 97.6

i got in a total of 12 oz water, lots of ice chips and 4 pops.  not enough to make 74 oz fluids.

at 8:15 and 8:30 i got in 2 oz of CIB (boo-hiss, patooie, bad stuff for me, i know)

at 10:15 i had a soupie puree of 2 oz of refried beans, salsa and cheddar cheese soup

at 2 and 2:15 got in another 4 oz of CIB

at 3:30 i had 3 oz of cheddar cheese soup with some chicken puree with broth - that was SOOO good, but probably too soon after eating/drinking the 'protein shake'?

then at 7 i had 1 oz of cottage cheese.

so, my nutritionists plan is i MAY have 1-2 foods on this list.  yeah, none of those foods were what i had yesterday, but i tried to make it as full of protein as i could with the little pouch i have and the sickies i am dealing with.

i just dont feel well.  i was feeling better a few days after leaving the hospital.  last monday i was feeling good when i went to get my stitches out.  and i'm just not doing as well.

OH, speaking of getting my stitches out- i kinda lied to the nurse and told her i was getting in my proteins, which i totally was doing worse then than now!  i had not had a BM since before surgery with the liquid diet.  she told me to take some mag citrate to get me going.  well, i was able to do half the bottle, with lots of tooting (still happening) but no 'success' in the pooing area.  now that i am eating more, i would think i should be doing something other than tooting?  it doesnt feel like i have to go, and it feels like i'm active down there...

sigh.

like i said, i see everyone tomorrow.  i'm prepared to be flogged.  but, i'm just not feeling great, and doing the best i can- even if it means not doing with the nutritionist tells me to do.  whaaaa!

thanks fr listening to me whine!

No flogging here.

But, yes you knew there would be a but!

Please get your liquids going. Dehydration is never good, and may be why you are not feeling so well.

Search up in the right hand corner for protein shakes. Also the world according to eggface has alot of great recipes. I remember at this point it was the only way I could get my protein in. There was no way I could get protein from my foods except for protein chicken broth. I could tolerate grape isopure too.

A good bm, may also make your tummy feel better too.

Hang in there.

Let us know how your appointment goes, and SIP, Sip, Sip!

thanks, maria.  have an order on it's way from vitalady, but told hubby to go to GNC for some fruity instead of milkshaky protein powder today.  i think i can get in this sobe 0 today.  thinking positive and i guess making sure my timer is set is still in order, as i will forget to keep tabs every 15 minutes without it.  it sure is a full time job at the beginning!

This is a journey and you have to take one step at a time.
I think it was a couple of months out by the time I was able to do all my vites, liquid and protein. At first  I just focused on my liquids. Timer is an awesome idea!

it will get easier!!!  hang in there and just do you very best to get your fluids in!  right after my surgery it would take all day for me to get the shake down.  i'd take a few sips, put it in the frig, go rest.....every time i would get up to walk around in the house, i'd stop by the frig for a few sips.  can you tolerate yogurt?  that was always soothing to my pouchie.....and the fat free creamed soups (strained) was another soothing treat and pouchie loved it!

at this point you're getting to know your pouch and what it will tolerate.  don't pu**** or you'll be sorry!  just take it slow....rest, rest, rest!  don't stress!

best wishes and prayers for your speedy recovery!!!

thanks, jenni.   it's a great idea to come back to the shake everytime you walk.  i'll try that, thou, the thought of that shake gives me the gags right now.  maybe tomorrow, lol.  putting the unflavored powder in my sobe water is working right now, yay!

my cheese soup feels so good in the pouch right now, and yes, yogurt is good too.

thanks for the reminder to not push too hard.  it's a fine line, i think!

when U go to GnC  ask them fora free sample of  the ready made isopure  mango smoothie shake .    I  could have stomached that  early out happily and its STUFFED with protein  (  tastes  just like   a yogurt smoothie )

I too felt like   10 lbs of poo in a  five lb bag   for   several weeks after  surgery ( try six ) ... its normal .    The most important thing is not to get dehydrated  because then Ull feel a LOT    worse .

Otherwise  sounds like Ure doing great .

Sleeep  a lot  n heal , sip sip sip .    wlak walk walk .... SLEEP    .   Go ahead and dream about Ur brand new life thats about to start !

From day 5-10 my only goal was to get in 64 oz fluids.  The rest of was just bonus.  from Day 5-10 my only protein was Fage greek yogurt in small amounts.  On day 10 I added Muscle Milk Light and just sipped it whenever I could in addition to my water.

You're going to do fine!
