Well I finally DID it . Im trying to get a crop of peas in for the fall ... I soaked em and inoculated em and planted some at the base of my 10 foot tall Jerusalem artichokes ( though the soil there is the very DEFINITION of dry shade being as its a raised bed to begin with ) . I DID put a bit of water holder in with them though ...
The others I planted in a flowerbed ( Ill make a makeshift Teepee if they come up and act productive ... if not theyre good soil enhancers )
and im thinking of planting another bag in the raised bed where the beets were and the giant pumpkin came out of that currently holds a collapsed trellis . I can throw a pea net over th e trellis and allow them to climb ...

I have never gotten fall peas before have YOU all ? Im not sure if I can considering the limited amount of sun in my backyard between the brownstones garden and the fact that the sun is markedly on the decline now ...
Any tips and tricks would be very much appreciated .
The ones I planted a month ago in the front never yet came up ( the heat ? ) Maybe they will now that the weathers suddenly cooling off ...
My husband and Father in law want me to do something with the flower boxes on the deck for the winter too ... so I guess I'll start flowering Kale transplants and red cabbage transplants ( which make the most AMAZING blue colored leaves over the winter ) ..
I can't BELIEVE how tasty the squash is
( OHH heaven is a baked DELICATA on a plate !! ) and how the heirloom tomatoes have come in . Who has tomato recipes ? This is a typical day's harvest from my very small garden ... how lucky AM I ? Andit was PRACTICALLY no work .... the plants are so EAGER To grow and produce
..and NOTHING edible could be less fattening or better 4 ya !

Thnaks the gardening thing is really FUN and keeps me finding creative and healthy ways to USE the produce .
The first few years I grew a garden i mainly gave the results AWAY lol ...because i had no clue how to cook /preserve the bounty but I've LEARNED .
And we eat far more healthy vegetables ( and a greater variety of them ) because they are so readily available .
For me , an invetarate foodie it gives a HEALTHY focus too ... rather than say BAKING or making more fatfree but still calorie filled main dishes ...
