Knowing in my heart that God wants us all to have a full and abundant life. Believing that all the suffering and pain will lead to joy in eternity.

That's what makes me smile and keep going when all seems lost.

We don't even have a TV but I am still well aware of the economic and political turmoil in our country and the world.

I would like to say that I don't dwell on it but that would be a lie.  DH and I discuss it on a regular basis and we started taking steps well over 2 yr ago to become self-sufficient if/when dire times arrive.

1)  We take a monthly survival class from Sierra School of Survival.  It's an awesome class that we got involved with because my DH is the video producer.  The instructor, Doug Huffman, is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to survival, edible herbs, long-term food storage, close-quarters-comba****er purification, ditch medicine, etc.   You can check it out here...the information you will learn may save your life some day!  And in the meantime it may save you money and make you hit at parties LOL!

2)  We do not save cash.  We save silver coins.  Long story, but in short - the dollar isn't worth anything and when our economy totally crashes you will need silver or gold to obtain the things you need.  If it never crashes then we can sell our silver and go back to using the dollar.  But historically...the world ends up using silver, gold, and other precious metals to buy, sell, and trade when global economies fail.

3)  We grow and raise the majority of our own food and are becoming masters at preserving and storing so we can take care of ourselves if/when the need arises.

4)  We are politically active.  You can't complain about what's happening unless you are actively trying to fix it.

Are we those weird people who are awaiting for the apocolypse?  I suppose we could be perceived as such.  But I like to just call it our survival insurance.   If everything falls apart - we are ready.  If it doesn't - we are living a healthier life anyway.

Bet you never saw this side of me huh?

Don't think it hasn't crossed my mind!   Reality is that if we go somewhere it will most likely be OCONUS...

I thought this was going to be a thread about swimming.

I actually repeat this phrase to myself when biking sometimes. Only it's just keep cycling, of course. But in Dory's voice.
