I'm still in the hospital.I'm having some complications My Dr assures me that this is fairly normal considering how much more work he ended up doing. But I am soooo ready to go home. I'm supposed to be able to drink 8oz of fluid in an hour. I'm barely getting in 4oz and that takes me hours. When  try to push more, it just makes me feel so sick. First I get an uncomfortable full feeling then move into the pain and feeling like I need to throw up. I'm just ready to go home but they say they can't until I'm drinking enough to keep myself hydrated. Keep swinging those critters for me. This has got to get beffer.... Right?

Sorry you are having complications.  Hope they can get it straighted out soon.  Glad they are taking it seriously and not sending you home to get dehydrated.
Take care of yourself.

Hope you feel better soon. The hospital used the little one ounce cups at first. It never seemed so daunting. I refilled it every time I got it down. Might help you.

Be patient, since your whole life will be better from now on. The bumps will look so small in the rear view mirror.

it does get better, I promise.

We were to drink 1 oz every 15 min.  Try warm or at least room temp, not cold.  also try stuff other than water.  Lots of folks have problems with water.  Sometimes just a squirt of lemon will make a difference.

I'm swinging for you.  Hopefully you will drink and be home soon.

It's definitely going to get better!!!     I'm glad you are through the surgery and hoping you get to go home soon!!   I couldn't drink either but my surgeon gave in and let me use a straw and it worked!  Also like Price said sometimes warm goes down better than cold.

Sorry you're having problems.  I think 8 oz in an hour is ridiculous.  Your tummy is swollen and even more restricted now.

Hope you can go home soon.

I agree... 1 oz every 15 minutes was my instructions.  It will get better Julie!!   Hang in there and rest, sip, walk, sip, repeat - as best you can.  That's all you have to do.  Your tummy is special and will need a little extra time to heal is all.

Hang in there!!! It does get better.  The nurses gave me ice chips and that helps since they were able to melt in my mouth so I sucked on those constantly.  I know that uncomfortable feeling but it will get better - you are just beginning to heal inside.  I agree with warm liquids too...I am finding that warm liquids (or even room temp) seems to go down much better and feels better to my digestive system than cold.

Swinging those critters for ya!!!

Thanks for the responses. My pouch has made it very clear to me that it does NOT like cold or really hot. I had a sip of ice water and I thought I was going to die. Horrible horrible plain.

I have been using the small one ounce cups. Those make liquids less intimidating. After about 2 1/2  to 3ounces I am done. I feel totally stuffed. Pain in the chest and some serious pressure. Not fun at all!!

Hopefully this will get better very very soon!
