I had 5, and they're very small.  Yes, my scars tend to heal slow and stay read awhile, but now you can't even see them.

thanks ladies for all the input and for the two of you who posted the pics for me to see .... i guess that i can cross that fear off of my list now , and your right if the WLS surgery makes me healthier then who cares about a few scars here and there but my plans are to get into a bikini again i certainly didn't want any scars showing ....

i hope that my dr doesn't use staples, i won't have the surgery if he does, one thing to add to my list of questions for her...

If you are getting a DS, they are going to use staples to make the sleeve. That's because that's the best way to do it so you have less complications. They may hand-sew some of the new connections in your intestines but no surgeon I know of does the sleeve without using staples. And, if they did, they've some major convincing to do before I'd be willing to let him operate on me that way.

Brandi was talking about using staples to close up the incision. They don't all do that, in fact, most don't. But even if they did, they'd be in for weeks and in exchange for decades of improved quality of life. It seems like a fair trade to me.

I'm kind of sitting here giggling.  Kind of, but not really.  Y'see... when I became willing to do whatever it took rather than live another day like I had been... I didn't put a lot of restrictions out there.  I didn't feel like I had the knowledge or "right" to do that.  First you won't eat the foods that somebody else listed... then you won't do it if it's going to leave scars... then you don't want to do it if you have to tell anybody else about it, then you won't do it if they are going to use staples...  and meanwhile, all the wonderful, kind, caring lightweight women here have been patiently giving you their opinions on each and every concern.  Is your list of reasons not to have weight loss surgery very much longer?  Do you have a list of all the reasons you think you *should* have the surgery???

I'm sorry... it's just so very different than how my attitude was that I'm puzzled and I really don't "get it".

It is your decision so I hope you get all the answers you need to get rid of all the fears and peeves you  have ... and I hope you are happy with whichever decision you finally make.

I truly wish you the very best!  :-)

It is her life, she can come here and ask questions and everyone does not have to understand!  No one is forced to answer and hey, I was glad to read the answers too!
