Like most everyone else, I supplement too.  I don't want to take chances with my nutritional levels.

I take pills for vitamins to include extra D, chews for calcium, and sub-lingual B-12.  I don't count on my diet for any of my nutritional needs except calories for fuel.  My supplements are my primary form and the nutrients from my food supplement my supplements.  I know it sounds crazy and my NUT would gasp, but it works for me.

My D was 87 on my last labs and my NP freaked.  She told me she never saw a bariatric patient with that high of D.  She wants me to stop taking it and retest in 3 months.  Of course I am still taking it.  I just take one of Vitalady's D3 50 a week.  A few years ago my D level was barely detectable so it has taken a bit of work to get it where it is now.  I was taken it daily, then 4 days a week, etc.  I heard that I don't need to worry about D toxicity?
Other then that I get most of my nutrients from supplements.  If I get more then that from food then good but I don't count on it.

You don't need to worry about D3 toxicity if you're using "dry" D3 responsibly, which you are. If you were to take an entire bottle of D3 50,000IUs you might need to worry but I think you'd throw up first anyway. lol  Toxicity isn't even close to 100 on your labs. Try over 250 or so.

I do a lot of supplements.  Since WLS, I do get outside a lot more - so hopefully I'm getting some from the sun!!  Before it was so hot, now sometimes the heat actually feels really good to me.

I try to eat some veggies and fruits every day even thought I might not get much benefit from them.  My body seems to work better and I actually feel better when I do some veggies & fruit.  I could actually go days without eating anything but protein and have done that, but after a few days I don't feel as good.

I'm out in the sun a lot and I'm kind of lazy about putting on sun screen. As an example, I just came back from a 43 min. run and no sunscreen.

But I sitll have to take 50,000 IU every other week to keep my Vitamin D levels up. And that's not counting the Vitamin D in my calcium and in my multis.

You are blocking all the D if you use sun screen. I hope you're supplementing with dry D3.

I use it if I'm going to be out for a long time or the sun is strong. I don't want to get skin cancer and your risk of that goes up dramatically if you get sunburned so I try hard not to get sunburned. But, if I know I won't burn and I'm feeling lazy... lol

I have to wear it for the next 3 weeks though  becuase I just got laser hair removal and I don't want to get "hyper-pigmentation".
