bowel obstruction or appendicitis

I'm typing this from my hospital bed under the influence of dilaudis & benedryl...

I hard awful abdominal pain in the middle of my chest on Tuesday. it didn't feel like heartburn at all. it was bad enough to go to the ER. they treated me for gastritis & released me. the pain then moved down to my right lower & upper quadrants. I was back in ER at 10am yesterday.

I have never been in so much pain! I  told them I thought it was an obstruction. and that I was
not leaving until I got a CT!

so they  couldn't see the my appendix because everything was so inflamed. the ER doc said he talking to the surgeon. that was at 4pm. I have yet to see another doctor or the surgeon!

They won't let me eat or drink just in case I need surgery. I had chicken soup Tuesday at 7pm...that's it. I'm massively dehydrated as well.

anyone know much about either condition? my temp was 101 at 5am. my white cell count is up to 13.3. Would obstruction cause that?

Is it possible that because of swelling they wouldn't spot a blockage as well? I just want this pain to stop. The morphine is just going to constipate me more!

NO man or woman is worth your tears... and the one who IS,
won't make you cry!!

I don't know much about the obstruction except that they need to be treated pretty quickly.

My son had his appendix out after they almost ruptured - he was in tremendous pain and fever with high white count.  They knew it pretty soon after we got to the ER because when they touched him in a certain place it hurt.

Hope you feel better soon and they can get you fixed up.  Give us an update when you can.

I had a bowel obstruction but they had to open me to find it. I had it 3days after surgery. I gained 20lbs in 3 days. My heart rate was extremly high, fever, blood pressure high from the pain. Scary stuff either way. I am praying for you. I can not remember about blood count though. Don't leave until you have answers. A bowel obstruction is very serious!!! I was supposed to be discharged the day mine got so bad. They told my husband I wouldn't have made it home. Praying.
Nothing tastes as good as this feels!

I'm sure that by now your issue has been diagnosed.  I wish you a speedy recovery, and I hope you're feeling better.
