I posted a few days back about my  hemocrit and globin being very low. I was slammed by someone telling me how my iron wasn't bad, it was terrible. That wasn't helpful at all. I can't recall your username, but geez, are you kidding me? You slammed me saying my doc probably told me to supplement with the wrong stuff. If you want to try and help someone out figure out a  better way. I've been around for over 5 years. I don't need you to make me feel bad for whats going on with me. So I'm asking now... If your iron is in the pits what are the best supplements to take to get them up?

If you have a problem with me, you should send me a PM, not call me out in a public forum. That's passive-aggressive and I don't do passive-aggressive.

To whom it may concern, I don't do aggressive nor wish to see rude and snide comments. If I wish to see those I would log on at the DS forum. I come to this forum because the leaders here don't tolerate bad behavior. I suggest that both parties please refrain from fighting and use this forum to be helpful and informative. I do hope you ...Karen....do resolve the issue as it might get worse and harm your health. I didn't see the original post but I'm sure some good ideas can be found if we all put our heads together. I usually follow my doctors advice and am doing well, his staff is a bit lacking but they are getting better. I also find that attending a group meeting for support has helped others to find solutions. I tend to ignore the people who claim my doctor is "just a cutter" who has little knowledge of vitamin or nutrition. Please be calm and I'm sure you will find a solution. For the other party mentioned please take the LW pledge and remember we are not perfect...none of us.

I went back and reread the thread and I see that we were kind of short with you but we are concerned. In my case, I distrust medical folks where we WLS people are concerned and my posts come off as blaming and sarcastic sometimes. So when you see me get hot and bothered, it's most likely against the advice some of us are given, not flaming the person but the medical giving poor advice.

If you want to try to bring up your iron markers, I'd try 2 Proferrin tablets at bedtime (snapped into pieces for better absorption) and 180mg of Vitalady's Tender Iron with C (orange capsules, 60mg each). You want to take the Tender Iron away from all other vitamins, eggs, dairy, calcium, whole grains, and caffeine. Give it at least an hour away from these things on either side of taking it. You can take it with a little fruit just to have something on your stomach. Warnings: Work up to the total dose of Tender iron over a week's time. Don't try to take it all on the first day. If you get constipated taking iron, you may want to be prepared to address constipation before it happens with magnesium oxide, Miralax and fiber. Just some ideas. I'm not medical at all.

Thanks, GIna. You are kind to respond again. I ordered the Proferrin ES. I'll give it a shot.  Have a great day.    Karen
