I MADE iT!

I made it through my RNY. My surgery was at 7:30 am Thursday. Due to scar tissue removal it lasted about 3 hours. Once I woke up in recovery I told the nurse I was gonna throw up. Still fairly normal. Only it was a very large amount of bright red blood. At first everyone seemed calm. Until it kept happening and we all knew there was a serious problem. They rushed me back into surgery where my doc stitched along the staples. Once out I started again. They were giving m Blood but I was awake and throwing it up nonstop. The good news was I was keeping my own airway clear avoiding intebation. They called in a radiology Intervention team who went threw my groin to hopefully find the leaking artery. Around midnight they finally located it and shot a coil to block it. Did I me tio. I was awake the whole time? I was icu until last night with tubes everywhere and received 9 pints of blood. Today I am feeling well. Thank you doctors and nurses! I was one of complications you are warned about. The first time my doc had used radiology intervention and god be with me, all is well.

OMG!   So glad they found the problem and were able to fix it!  Sounds like you were in good hands - it could have gone the other direction easily :(

Rest up and welcome to the losers bench.   Your recovery will be a little slower than most but you'll get there!

Still in hospital but if all goes well I will be released tomorrow or Tuesday. Thank you all so much for your encouragement. My husband isn't able to stay at the hospital so it's me and my iPad. Not hungry in the least but I am getting my Popsicles and jello down. Thanks again everyone.
