I have done that protein off and on for the whole jouney and it isn't bad.  If you can, spring for some 100% whey isolate for the beginning.  It is better absorbed than the combination.  There are several varieties, Nectar, unjury, and others.  They may be more expensive but at least in the beginning when you really need the protein and need to be able to absorb it, it would be great.

Picked these up for grab and go purposes. Buying here and there. I have a long list of products to buy. The muscle milk was 7.00 for a four pack. Purchasing some powders next week. Thanks for the advice.

Don't go way overboard with your pre-purchasing - odds are good that your tast/tolerance will change!     Of course you'll need to be prepared for when you get home but don't buy in bulk (yet!)

I tried those protein shots... didn't find them yummy at all (pre or post) speciallywhen you'll barely be able to sip them

Congrats again on your date... seemed like you had quite a few hurdles but it's TOTALLY worth it!!!

I have to second this.  Before surgery I could do protein powders with milk - no problem.  Now one week plus out from surgery and I can't seem to tolerate really sweet stuff AND I have become lactose intolerant.  SIGH.

Gotta find a protein supplement that I can tolerate that has no lactose at all.  Lactose free milk is great for other things but even with the powder there must be some lactose in there cos I hurt after I finish one.  I had some 8oz samples of Isopure - grape frost.  Those seem to be very well tolerated so I'm guessing I need to go that route for protein.   I haven't tried the nectar (Syntrax) so if anyone has experience with that will you let me know?  I'm going now to Google it and read the ingredients list.

Try Isopure and Nectar. I had the same problem. You have to order them online.

Hey, I got both and the shots saved me.  I couldn't do the sweet shakes but mixed it with my diet drink to get the protein down.  Great buy.

Protein shots do not have the pure protein that we need. It is made of collagen--it is the skin, nails,of animals. Whey isolate protein is the way to go.

The "supplements" industry is not regulated and they will sell you pig **** and tell you its good for you. Check out labels and be careful.
