Mixing Protein Drink Question

Hi Everyone, Is it ok to mix my protein drinks the night before so I can have them for breakfast the next day. I don't have time to mix them in the mornings. I have the drinks that you mix with milk and water. I also make myself a smoothie with Greek yogurt. Do you think they would be OK if I mixed them the night before then drank them for breakfast?

I've heard that the protein may become a little less (don't know for sure)  I would experiment and see if they hold up ok overnight. They are made to digest easily and they may break down, but give it a try over the weekend and see what you think.

that was asked on the RNY board a while ago and the Unjury guy said they had tested theirs and it does hold fine.  Someone was asking about mixing to use in coffee the next day.  I don't know it is true of all of them but at least for Unjury, I guess it is fine.

I'm almost out of my Unjury so I will put in a order. Price, does the chocolate taste good? I only have the strawberry to add to my lemonade.

I've never had anything but the samples of Unjury.  I don't think I have tried the chocolate yet because I have had tubs of other stuff.  My fav is Nectar chocolate Truffle.

I used to drink the chocolate and it was good, but I too now have switched to others, mainly because I like to go to the store and buy it and Unjury is expensive.

It probably depends on the type of protein you use.  My favorites are the Nectares and if I'm drinking them at work and if I get busy they look at little separated.  My GNC chocolate seems to hold up better.

I wouldn't have time either to mix mine with a blender in the mornings so I'm glad I only mix mine with water and it only takes me a few minutes with my shaker cup

I use the Nectars too, with blender bottles and keep them in there so I can swirl it around a bit before I sip.  The instructions even said that the particles would settle and to shake it up as you go.   I've been known to pour my coffee/milk mixture the night before and add the powder in the morning.... or to make my fruity flavor one in the AM and refrigerate it until I'm ready for it about mid-morning.  The blender bottles make it easy to at least get the mixing liquid in there ready to add the powder as I go out the door.  www.blenderbottle.com

I do mix Greek yogurt with protein powder and eat from it for about 3 days.  All I can say is that the texture holds up, so I assume the quality of the protein does too.

Experiment until you find what really works for you and your schedule...

I think you'll be ok.  I have done that many times, mostly with the Syntrax Nectars.  They do tend to separate, but just keep swirling them when you drink them (I too use a blender cup).  Its common to have some settling but its not the protein that you need.

FWIW... the protein powder companies will tell you that it should be consumed within 4 hours of mixing otherwise the protein starts to deteriorate.  Don't know if it's true because I've never tested it in a lab -  but I don't take any chances so I mix 'em fresh.
