Good Morning. Splurging a little

I'm fixing pancakes for breakfast. The guys will get regular and I'm getting gluten free blueberry pancakes. In maintenance, after goal, still in normal BMI, I make weekends a time for a little freedom from the straight and narrow. So far, it's working fine but I will keep an eye on it. I understand that white carbs = regain at 3 - 5 years post-op, so I am mindful. My dietitian talks about mindful eating and it makes sense. Plan your treats and don't always deny yourself.

Any planned splurging this weekend?

I try to make Sun breakfast special too. I do make bacon as well as the pancakes. We aren't gluten free here...altho it's something that has crossed my mind about checking into...it might help me since I still have a bit of IBS and figuring out it's cause might help.

Anyway, having pancakes and bacon this morning.

I ended up sleeping a LOT yesterday, even came close to sleeping thru the night. I woke at midnight and by 2 I was asleep again and slept til 6. I am assuming I was so deficit in my sleep, my body finally rebelled.

Liz, I am gluten free everyday and have to be very careful as I do have Celiac's disease..but I would highly recommend you give it a try..During a GF trial you would just eliminate all sources of gluten obvious and hidden for a period of two weeks and then reintroduce them two weeks later. If your symptoms change or go away and then come back after you reintroduce you will know that you at least have a sensitivity to gluten...

Good morning Gina.  It's funny for me that I still don't really care for sweets much.  Every now and then, I'll have a small amount of a pancake.

However this morning DH and I are going to breakfast (if he ever gets out of bed ).  I'm looking forward to a small omelet from Perkins.  I recently discovered their broccoli and hollendaise (sp?) sauce omelet.  I can't eat all of the 2 egg omelet, but I've been craving it.

The other thing that's tasting fabulous to me right now is cherries.  I think they're at their prime in the stores right now, and we are loving them.  I can only eat 5-7 at a time, and I almost regret not being able to eat a whole bunch like I used to.

Good Morning Gina!!

We always go out to eat after church with the family and I always have a  few extra bites out of the norm for me.  If it's TX Roadhouse then I always eat one roll with their fabulous cinnamon butter and  if it's a breakfast restuarant then I might have part of a pancake or a few bites of french toast.  I'm so glad that most places have SF syrup now. It's funny how a few bites satisfy me now.  We don't do buffets very often but I actually prefer them because I can try all kinds of protein without feeling guilty for wasting all of that money when I can't finish them.

Have a wonderful day!!!

Good Morning Gina.

I have tried to eat pancakes but found anything bread just sits like a brick so I tend to stay away from them. I can do a small wrap though, the fajita size and have become very creative with those. Anyway taking the boys to scouts this morning, Bowling....

We're having the family over including the ex, his mom, his sister's family (3 teenage boys), the in-laws, kids and grandkids.  Some friends may show up too.  I'm thinking of splurging on vodka.

My ex and I have been divorced 20 years, but the kids and grands are still ours. That means we have to mingle at family events.  After 20 years, we don't have mu*****ommon, but we don't fight either.  We both love our kids.

All the families with kid have strict instructions to bring swimsuits.  Bored children are much better in the pool than inside with boring adults talking about boring stuff.  My current plan is to escape to the pool with DGS.  He's 18 months and needs constant supervision in the water.

We'll see how it goes.  I think DH is on to my plan. He's awesome and handles these events graciously.

I leave for Blowing Rock to camp this morning.  So I will be eating what is in front of me for many of the meals.  We do a communal dinner each night and I am contributing veggies or salads so I know that part will be ok.  I'm taking bean soup for lunches and crustless quiche for breakfast, powders and bars and cheese sticks.  I should be fine but will probably eat at least something I wouldn't have eaten if I was home.

Good morning Gina!

I don't do pancakes very well either.  They sit like  a rock with me too.

Bacon and left-over home made corn beef hash this morning for breakfast, with my coffee.  I just don't eat much in the mornings

As far as splurging during the weekend... I don't really look at it like that and try to be mindful all the time.  I guess I splurge all the time then - lol...

I enjoy a small pancake with sugar free syrup every so often.   I dont eat it very often though .......  maybe once every 4-6 weeks.   It sits wells in my pouch.  French toast however kind of feels heavy afterwards.   I splurged yesterday at our family reunion and had a few bites of coconut cream pie.  It was delish!!!!!   Cindy
