Cost of protein 2
Duh, went to edit my last post and accidently deleted it. So let me try this again.
Since I have been working out on and off most my life protein drinks have been a main staple in my diet all the way back to when we had nothing but Soy which was horrible.
But with all the good stuff thats out there now drinking them has been much easier. But the reason im posting these links is cause some places have really high costs for these protein powders.
Since money can be one factor, dedication to certain other sites, people etc can be another I thought I would just post these for options for some people.
You will see that is a flat $5 cost for shipping, not by volume or weight. Also 5lbs is $10 cheaper and 10lbs is $20 cheaper than most places. Mind you these 5lb containers have 77 servings to them too.
I was just at my local GNC the other day and with the sale and 20% off the first of the month the 5lb container with 77 servings was $44 with no shipping so thats where I got my last one.
This is what I have been buying and see its they protein Isolate that most here use too so I just thought I would share. They have many to choose from

You might want to check out www.vitalady.com. They have quite a selection of proteins in addition to vitamins and supplements.
You can also check out The Vitamin Shoppe as well.

I got my Syntrax Mint Cookie protein from netrition. Its the only place that I could find it. Its not an isolate, but Yummy good! Great to mix with a little milk and make a mint cookie protein frozen drink!

I keep reading about this and am thinking maybe I better try some! I did not like the syntrax flavors that you usually mix in water when I was first post op but need to try them again (I still have some samples of those). I will check vitalady to see if she offers mint cookie in a sample....I have made protein ice cream with chocolate but would LOVE another flavor...mint choc chip is MY favorite ice cream!
I checked out netrition site earlier today after reading this thread and WOW there are some great products out there........may have to try some new things out......

I have done that a couple times to see if I like something before I hit the internet for the best price.
Bancher,
Its very easy to get overload with all those powders out there. Just bear in mind that many of them were made for athletes, bodybuilders etc and they have A LOT of different ingredients in them that the average person does not need.
Just look for a Whey protein Isolate, try them and if you don't like them or they don't settle well for you then return it and try another till you find what you like. Then based on all the links here you know what to buy cheaper.
First week of the month GNC does the 20% off if you have their card, so sometimes if its cheaper there than the internet I would buy their own brand or like I did the other day Optium Nutrition Whey for $44 out the door,
my mother and i disagree on whether to listen to my nutritionist advice on staying with the carnation instant breakfast (no sugar added, but other nasty stuff instead) after surgery. i think i need to step it up a notch after surgery! i had the carnation stuff here because someone had given it to me, so i dont want to waste it. but i really want to try to do the best i can after surgery. i want to put good things, and only good things, in my new pouch!
i guess she is scared to do the wrong thing by not going with the nutritionists advice, but they also suggest flinstones chewables after surgery! i know there are better things out there, i just have to figure out what kind is right for me. is GNC not a good place for me? is vitaladys stuff more geared toward the average RNYer? thats where we got my samples- which are on their way, whoo-hooo!
anyway, thanks so much, you guys are the best!
