Friends opinions?

This is always difficult. If these are people really concerned, thank them for their opinion but this decision was made by you and a group of medical professionals.
If its just people being negative that dont really need to have an opinion in your life, I would steer clear. You dont need any negative nellys bringing you down!
You need to do whats best for you, not anyone else!!!

I didn't broadcast the information before surgery but didn't hide it either.  I just overwhelmed folks with the positive and got very few negative remarks.  My sister was the major one who was concerned but it was as much because of hospital bugs and errors as it was the surgery.  She even came and helped me when I got home.
Hang tough, be positive and come here for support.

I waited until a couple of weeks before surgery to start telling a wider audience. I didn't get a lot of push back but I also framed in such a way that it would be hard to do that without being rude.

I was more forthcoming with my close friends, most of whom are are a normal BMI and/or fit and they were all very happy for me.

i posted a similiar discussion question a couple of months ago because i was dealing with the same thing..i didn't want to tell anyone i was getting the surgery and my bff's were not supportive...i think it was jealousy too cuz the unsupportive comments came from my plumper bff's...i just educated myself so that i could educate them and the more i have learned and talked about it the more comfortable i have become with it...and these ladies and gentlemen on this forum have been very supportive and helpful too:) good luck!!
