Good news / bad news

All lightweights can appreciate my news -

Good News - I went to the pulmonologist, and I have REM-associated Sleep Apnea.  Yea - a co-morbidity

Bad News - I have been working really to adjust my eating patterns per the nutritionist - and lost too much weight.  I now have a BMI of 34.9....and I don't have the two years history above 35.  So I'll be paying for myself

Good News - because I'll have to pay myself, I have a date - Aug 10.

Oh goodness.  Truely is good and bad news.  At least you seem ok with it.  Paying for it yourself must be an option for you.  It isn't for everyone.  Congrats on your date.  It will be here very soon.

That's great that you are okay with self-pay.

I worked hard to stay above a 35 BMI til I had surgry on purpose.

i had to do the same thing.  i'm STILL worried about losing, but i see the nutritionist tomorrow, and she should tell me if i am safe to get really down to business or wait until my 2 week pre-op diet.

Jenny, they would not even let me do a pre-op diet at all, except for the night before surgery (You know the midnight to surgery).

So if you are that close, I would not even count on that.

well, i was told i would still do one, and was sent home with the paperwork last time i was in.  oh boy...  i would hope that the insurance wouldnt deny me after the surgery is over and done if i was too thin!  you never know with insurance, though.  i'll add that to my list of questions.  thanks for bringing this to my knowledge, liz, i really appreciate it!

You might be okay but I was SO close to the edge, they were even worried. I had a BMI of 35.2 the week before surgery, the day before it was an even 35. And the next morning in spite of eating most of the day before all the BAD stuff I could find, I still logged in at 34.9. Thankfully the insurance didn't look at that one weight. But there was someone on the main board who slipped, like me, to below 35 on the day of surgery and her insurance denied payment.

the nutritionist told me if i was 179 the insurance wouldnt cover it, so i've been going between 180-185 this whole time (6 months).  i'll check with her tomorrow.  i would hope that my insurance would let me do the diet, since thats what shrinks the liver in the last bit of time before surgery.  surely they wouldnt want to cover more expense for a knicked liver?
