Good Morning. Eat Your Fresh Raw Veggies

'tis the season! Protein first, of course but eat your raw veggies as you can. (New post-ops, when you can add them or drink organic V8 or juice your own) Raw carrots and tomatoes...dark green leafies (I'm not good at those) are probably better. Now, how else can you apply a the fix for us malabsorbers and newbies that have no room for anything but protein and fluids. Perhaps VitaminShoppe's Lutein Lycopene Carotene in capsules (not soft gels). Note, the carotene is not a good substitute for vitamin A (palmitate), it just is what it is.

Food pyramid for WLS? Maybe fluids, protein, fresh veggies, healthy oils and fats, and after all that, whole grains. What do you think?

I love it!!!!

I ate tomatoes off the vine yesterday and blueberries. My spinach is about gone but there was enough brocalli to put some in the stir fry last night along with the peas I had stuck in the freezer that were from all of the coming in at once. Onions are plentiful.  I live on eating from my garden in the summer.  Just planted my second round of lettuce, spinach and kale.  The edanama has little beans on it and the green beans are blooming.

Life is good.

sounds awesome Price !   Ill be right over    to stuff my face  lol  ...   if you don't mind that is  ... ...  see thats the GREAT thing  about veggies  ...

you can eat  to your heart s content and no weight gain  (  just  leave the fattening EVOO out of the recipes lol ) ...

the other  GREAT thing about them is  they keep  your skeleton straight and tall ,   all your teeth in yer HEAD  where they belong  and cavity free .... and  give ya  a great disease  and pain free  long  and  disgustingly healthy  life .... .  Oh  and TONS  of bounce around  and bounce -off -the wall kid -like energy  to spare .

AND  theyre BEAUTIFUL -   they feed the SOUL

Lets see ...  I have  delicata squash producing , the  new  meatier  extra carotene  marrow which seems to be  a cross between a zucchini and  a winter squash  - but its quite good - tastes  like a yellower seedier pattypan when young  .  Pattypans of course , my VERY  favorite summer squash ... and the blue and pink  pumpkin vines  are  just putting out their giant leaves .

My  Marconi  peppers  are  just beginning to ripen  .. theyre  quite large though ( about eight inches )   .. I  could pick em as  green peppers  but i prefer red  ... so does the  opossum well see  who gets it first   ( ILL  KILL that critter !!!   ) ( yeah RIGHT  it says     )

have  literally HUNDREDS  of  mature- sized  green tomatoes ... and few ripe red ones other than cherries  grrrr....

raspberries  by the bowlful every morning and night  still

romaine  lettuce red  and green and green oakleaf  and just replanted  radishes , mesclun ,  winer kale  , large oriental radish ,beets and yellow rutabagas  and parsnips .

red beets  mature

reddish  purple  purple/blue  green french filet  and  yellow wax bush beans -  GORGEOUS

cucumbers  ...  the vines and flowers no cukes yet

perpetual  broccoli -  finally  kicking into gear  now that I manuaed the plants and properly mulched the roots ...

Well for some reason my garden has just about bit the dust, cant figure out what happened.Have ahd a garden for years and now this UGH! I do have green beans coming in but only on 2 plants, so needless to say when I snap those suckers off, they straight in the mouth LOL... Now my watermelon is going CRAZY! Hopefully I got something right. Until then, I have a nice little stand where I found some good ole boys sellin cheap and will go visit them frequently...

it may have nuthin to do with U Stacey.... there were HORRIBLE and I mean the WORST tomato viruses imaginable going around for the last two years in Pennsylvania , New Jersey and Virginia in commercial operations and homesteads alike .

Thats why suddenly U see a LOT of OTHER varieties for sale ... especially heirloom transplants in places like LOwes ... because they actually have excellent disease resistance for the most part having been around and selected every year FOR it for a few hundred years lol ...

since eggplants , peppers and tomatoes and potatoes are very closely related the viruses affect them all .... and stunt their growth and production. They also appeared to stay in my soil at least which is why I basically didnt grow any tomatoes last year except in the very large containers ....

This year ... thank God , the worst is OVER and no trace of the wilt or the leaf curling remains . It REALLY affected my brandywines I started under glass last year ....other heirlooms like Black cherokee have resistance . If U really want tomatoes Lowes still has some great ( large) plants super cheap now .... get a few black cherokee and Mr .Stripey ( talk about gorgeous and delicious tomatoes ) and dig up a patch of virgin soil to put em in ... thats what id do ... and mulch ;)

Yum Gina!

My lunch today will be a fresh organic salad of lettuce, spinach, orange pepper, cucumber, red cabbage, cherry tomatoes, toasted almonds, a touch of avocado for flavor and a little dressing.  It doesn't keep me full long enough so I'll have a 20 protein gram Quest Bar to supplement a few hours later. That has been working for me lately.

I keep lots of cut up veggies in the fridge in containers so that I can just put them out on the kitchen counter and fix a quick salad.

It's such a relief at 17 months to be able to eat salads again.  My body was really craving the natural nutrition.

How about some fresh fruit?? I seriously crave fruit since the surgery..have to be careful with the sugar in it as it has made me sick before but I usually try to eat some piece of fruit at least a couple of times a week...Today I had a bowl of mixed fruit salad..yummy!!

There are some fruits high in carotenoids. Check out Linus Pauling's article. There is a partial list of foods near the bottom. lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/phytochemicals/carotenoids/  Just be careful of the sugar content.
