Thank you all are soo great! You are so right, my journey will be my own. I hope that my age, 28, and my active lifestyle and excercise program will help ropel my loss. I am very nervous and excited at the same time. This is something I never considered in the past but Im going all in. I ask you all to send prayers for a safe journey to TJ, Mexico, as well as a speedy recovery from the surgery. This is such a great site for help and sleeve family!!

I am 5'6" and I started off at 202 and 2 months later I am 27 down from that. I am also not very active because I have MS and it slows me down. I am very grateful for the sleeve! Love it!
Good luck to you!

I was a BMI of 31-32, and started around 215 pounds.

I was 177 this morning and am 6 weeks out from surgery. Yeah, holy crud. I don't regret a thing. I had a lot of nausea from the meds, but no pain or suffering after the first week.

I was in Yellowstone hiking the second week after surgery but dont tell my doctor that LOL

We don't get malabsoprtion with the sleeve :-)

Good luck!

I had my sleeve almost 3 years ago. I've blogged about it (link in my siggy) if you want all the gory details.

In general, I had a decent recovery though it took me 2 weeks to feel up to working. Lots of people feel ready to go back sooner. I also have had two complications. One was not sleeve related but WLS related -- I was taking the wrong kind of calcium and not getting enough water and passed a kidney stone. The other is that I now have low protein even though I eat a ton of it.

The thing about the sleeve is we do have our intestines so we don't malabsorb, but with the smaller stomach we do maldigest things. Calcium is one, which is why we're all taking extra calcium. Some have issues with B12 and iron too but that's rarer. Protein digestion is also an issue but that is even rarer than the B12 and iron problems.

As for results, mine have been stellar. My body fat is under 20% and I am a size 2. I got to a normal BMI at 6.5 months and my lowest weight at 10.5 months.

Hello, i too was considered a light weight sleever, I'm losing slower now that my 6 month honeymoon is over, but I have not gained any. i am not yet t my 1st goal, but I;m sure I will be soon! Recovery was not bad at all, I was at a baby-shower on day 4 of my surgery. and back to work after the 2nd week. No complaints here, other than I wish I could lose the weight faster. But so far, I have no loose skin, and I LOVE IT SO FAR!!!!

Hi, I had surgery with a BMI of 31 and am soooo close to goal at 10 months. My recovery was slower than others probably due to another surgery I had 3 weeks before my VSG surgery.

I know that my weight loss would have been faster if I had started exercising earlier...but I waited probably 6 months to start. Also, I was not 100% on my food plan after the first 4 or 6 months so that slowed me also. I am not as active as many people on the VSG board and they seem to lose easier and maintain with eating more food, than I do. But it's my choice, so I'm happy with my weight loss.
