guess i'm more welcome here
Welcome! I'm late to welcome you but wanted you to know that I enjoyed reading your intro. So interesting! I look forward to seeing your future posts.
You will like it here. Lots of support! I had sleeve surgery at 31 bmi and felt too fat for the real world, and too skinny for the WL surgery world. I do feel accepted here!
Enjoy the journey!

thanks, K! gee, i really hear you about being too fat for the world, but too thin for the WLS world. all i know, is i'm not happy in my skin right now, and too unhealthy to have a long, active life, so i made this choice for me and my health.
i'm SO happy i have found the LW forum! you all are SO accepting and supportive!

Welcome! I too heard, "Your not big enough....I can't believe they would do surgery on you etc", but whats funny is those same people are the ones who say, "OMG, You look so good!" I just say, "See, I was bigger than you thought." It's not all about the weight sometimes; its about the medical issues related to the weight. Allmine have resolved. I find this particular message board more helpful than the RNY because mose are lightweights on here and can relate more.
thanks, for the welcome, deb. i just told someone the other day. and, while she was shocked and told me i wasnt fat (i'm not fat, i'm obese!), after i told her i wasnt doing it for weightloss, i was doing it for the diabetes, high blood pressure and sleep apnea, she became very happy for me and i know will be supportive. she also sounded interested in the process, not sure if she is interested for herself or 'just because'...
You are very welcome here, Jenny! I also had diabetes, hypertension and sleep apnea. The diabetes was gone within a week of my RNY and the hypertension followed within a couple of months. I still have sleep apnea but it has improved from very severe to mild. I feel like a new woman.
You will have your own story soon of how RNY transformed your life. I am excited for you!

hehehe, i cant wait! i know it'll be tough in the beginning. i'm worried about the first few weeks/months or so. my mom will be coming over during the first week to make sure i have what i need and maybe to do some cooking and get my freezer stocked with things i may be able to eat. hubbys busy season is starting, and he wont be able to stay home. i'm just not sure how my body is going to do with this surgery. historically it doesnt do too well with people slicing it open and fiddling around in there. my fibro actually started in ernest after i had knee surgery about 10 years ago. i'm having a flare at the moment, and i cant imagine doing any food prep short of popping something into the toaster oven. and on top of this, i'm going to have my belly re-arranged???! yikes! so, yeah, i'm pretty nervous to be left alone, and VERY excited to be on the road to recovery!
