So true Ava!

Interestingly my 9-yr-old daughter had 2 friends over last night and they were right up in there checking the whole process out.  One of them got a little grossed out but overall they were very curious and anxious to BBQ!

When I was in Peace Corps (Ecuador) many moons ago, the chickens were killed by taking a feather from the chicken and inserting the end of it, into the top part of the head. Scrambled brains. Then the head was cut off, and the chickens were turned upside down, which allowed the blood to drain from them.

When I was very young, like before 5 when we moved to Fl, we had the longest chicken house in Western Tennessee.  I remember chickens running around with their heads cut off.  I also remember that I had a Banty hen and rooster and the the hen didn't lay an egg that day, I didn't have to eat one.  Hasn't stopped me from eatting chicken.

We live in a rural area and there is this crazy woman who embarrasses her DH by rolling down the car window to scream "FREE THE CHICKENS"!!!!!!!!!! When she sees them in route to slaughter. Or atleast she hopes they are still alive???

My DH hates it when I do that. The truckers usually laugh.

My DH and I are getting ready to build a chicken coop in the fall so we are prepared for chicks this coming year.  We have so many friends who now have chickens.

Funny how we're moving full circle to like it was when folks had a garden, raised chickens, shared in the raising of a steer or two, etc.
Much healthier living.
