Feeling very sad, in pain and very unhappy at the moment.

Do you have pain management doctors in your area? When I had complications and ongoing pain from a procedure, I went to a pain management specialist. He was able to give me a pain patch that delivered continuous pain relief so I didn't have to pop pills or deal with the pain on a daily basis. It was so freeing!

I'm so sorry you are dealing with all of this. Take good care of yourself and get all the help you can. Pain causes serious depression and you need to heal.

Hi guys,

I saw the surgeon this morning and having an urgent CT scan this afternoon.   Doctor said pain is from lower bowel so not sure what is going on?

Cheers from Karin (in Oz)

I hope the CT scan gave you some answers.  It sure doesn't seem like you should still be in so much pain! Check in!

Hi all,

I spoke to the nurse today and the results of the CT scan were in and there is nothing untoward in the scans at all!  Zip, zilch, nada...They can't explain why I have pain or where it's coming from apart from possibly pain from old adhesions/scar tissue.  So I'm left wondering.

Some of the pain has eased and I've just been putting the heat pack on me whenever I'm sitting or laying down.

Not sure what else I can do?

Cheers from Karin (in Oz)

Karin, I feel for you. I had a lot of incision pain for the first 6-8 weeks after my surgery - it was in the area of the main incision where they do the work laprascopically. It hurt pretty bad. It did abate after about the first two months though and I don't have any problems at this point. Nothing really helped much for me but if I could get outside and walk the dogs or do something distracting, I would focus a lot less on the pain!

I hope you're feeling better soon - and don't worry overmuch on the job, I know tons of people that take off more time in a year with sick kids than I did during my surgery!

Karin.... here is a hug for you ((((Karin)))). I am so sorry you are going through hell. I hope your doc can figure out why your left side is still bugging you. But my take home packet says it can hurt for 6-8 weeks post-op. I do understand, I really do. That was the worst of the pain for me. And like you, no pain meds even touched it. Then one day, literally, it moved from sharp to a dull ache, then gone.

Also, I know you've probably heard this a lot, but depression and even regret are common. There's a whole article about it in my packet. (I can send you some of the info in a private message if you'd like, it helped, knowing it was common among other rny'ers.)

I wish we were closer, I would come spend the day with you.

You are in my thoughts always and I am here for you.. even if here is just on a website.

Thanks Kelly for your thoughts from afar.  I never got a take home pack from my surgeon, all I got was a dietician booklet on food items to gradually work up to.  I'd love to see what was in your take home pack if you could scan or email info to me would be great.  I'll PM you my details.

Thanks again.

Karin - have they checked you for a leak? Intense, unexplained pain, especially if accompanied by a fever, is a sign of one. I don't think a CT scan will find it. You need GI scan so they can see if fluid is leaking out from the stomach and from any connections between the stomach and the intestines.
