Stainless Steel Appliance

I'm hoping to buy a new refrigerator this weekend. Do you have SS and do you like them or hate them? What about the French Door style or the new 4 door style? My other appliances are white and I can't replace them right now but it probably won't be to much longer.

I have a stainless steel 'like' frig. I love it! It doesn't show all the marks and things like my stainless stove & dishwasher do. Of course they do have polish that helps with stainless---but with 5 kids (DH included)...One of the things I love and hate about it is that has the freezer on the bottom. I love it because I do not have to bend for all the things I want or need most often- which has been great since my back surgery. BUT the freezer drawers get hard to move with any amount of weight in them. We replaced our appliances as able. We got a great deal on them at scratch and dent places or at the major retailer's when they get one with minor damage they reduce the price and keep the warranty. Bargain shopper. We didn't pay more then 1700 for stove, frig and dishwasher...and all of them are stainless or stainless like (frig) with no obvious flaws and major brands too. I think the ones with 2 doors on top for the frig are nicer then 1 big door. Have fun!

I'm confused. Some are made of stainless steel and some are fake stainless steel? The fake one doesn't show the marks but the real SS does?

I don't think DH and I will have enough in the freezer for it to be as heavy as it would be with a big family. I just hate by side by side because you can't even put a frozen pizza in it.

I would have to agree with the fake stainless steel, I had one when I lived in Kentucky. My kids were 2 and 3 at that time and it couldn't have looked prettier. I can imagine what a mess it would have been if it were real stainless steel. I personally like the french doors, mainly because I haven't seen any 4 doors in a home, only in the stores.

I have a Frigidare Stainless Steel(does not show fingerprints) that we purchased from Lowe's. I love it. It is the side by side with the freezer on one side and refrig on the other side. We remodeled our kitchen a few years ago and got the set of 3 - microwave, stove, refrigerator and got a good price on the combo deal. The dishwasher was black so it goes ok with the others and we could actually get a cover to make it look stainless steel but we decided it looked ok as it is.

I'm looking at a white French Door Samsung at Lowes but they have a SS 4 door on sale, which I think would be great for the DGC instead of them opening up the fridge doors all of the time for their snacks.

It's such a BIG decision to spend that much money.

Samsung is the brand I have...Yes regular stainless shows marks, and finger prints. They make surfaces like stainless (some now may be stainless with a coating) that look the same but do not show the marks. Regular stainless is a nightmare! I hate side by sides because of the issue with holding certain items. Some have a certain spot for drinks or snacks. I hate spending money on big items. Good luck!

I decided to go with the white 26 cubic french door with just 3 doors. I would have loved having the snack drawer but I can't see spending an extra $634.00 for it. I'm going to save that extra money to buy a stove because I know mine is going to look awful after my fidge gets put in place.

What kind of stove do you have? I use gas cooking.

I think you're going to love your new frig. I prefer white appliances because they are timeless. I currently have bisque, but that color is becoming hard to find and will replace with white as they die.
