Well the waterfront property I loved and fought for for a YEAR while my husband dithered and lied like a rug is unfortunately in contract to a Texas couple who will most likely close on it . ( theyd be CRAZY not to considering the prices of everything else out there - he fact is I got 250,000 off the price and my husband allowed others to cherrypick our deal by waiting too long to close the idiot )
We didnt get the loan at the last minute because it turns out he also lied about filing his amended taxes at the beginning of the loan seeking process and the bank wouldnt loan the money when he filed the amendment literally the day they were issuing the commitment .
Basically he was trying to save $27,ooo in taxes and was too DUMB to realize that because he didnt CLOSE a few months ago hed have to pay 2010 taxes too ... so ANOTHER 30,000 on top of the original 27,000.
And now we hve no house which was the bargain of the century ( and hes realizing it now , the fool ) ... but what can I do ?
This other house is actually nicer and larger but theres an accepted offer on it and it too needs a LOT of work . Well see if the first guy can get a mortgage ( i doubt it considering theres two feet of standing water in the basement lol... ) if he cant .,.. were the backup . I know what to do!
This house needs roof work , a new geothermal heating cooling system , insulation , paint .... but it IS truly GORGEOUS .
We also made ANOTHER offer on THIS house .. but its a little small for us ( the view is AMAZING though .... and were negotiating that ... but the land here is less than half the first house , the square footage is about half the first house , the town is the PITS even though its part of Southhampton ( the ARMPIT of Southhampton LOL ) ..and of course the land s totally raw and HAS to stay that way largely ... so no horses , hardly any gardening .... only half an acre ....no dock ,no pool , no studio , no garage ...
a very painterly house though ...

nah .. I couldn't swing a CAT Jody much less a bank loan lol !! The reason I never suspected my husband of DOING the things he did is because we've always known that his Father HAS to come live with us as soon as possible and we MUST have a far larger house in order to accomodate him .
So what my husband did sabotaging the great deal we had makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
In terms of our marriage ... whatever happens his Father needs a place to come ... and also purchasing a house is what is fair to ME and what was promised to me when he proposed . As a matter of fact the promised purchase was SPECIFICALLY for the house that he sabotaged . GRRRR

Hmmm - and you think its going to stop now? That's probably just the first promise he'll break to you. Sounds like you've got yourself into a pickle.
When I was married to my first husband we had a house under contract and I stopped and evaluated our relationship and decided I couldn't get into a financial contract with him when I knew it wasn't going to work out. Just couldn't see myself making myself stay in that marriage just for the sake of a house payment. I got out. Best thing I ever did... Yes, the house was on the water and would have been worth a fortune later, but it is what it is...

UGH! My garden this year is HORRID! I lost all zuccini and squash, my cucumbers have decided they want to sleep more often (wont grow) forget the carrots. looks like I may have some watermelon but dang it I have lost it all. My tomatoes are coming in but they are still green...I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure what I am doing wrong. I weed every day, water weekly. I have no clue. Now I had WONDERFUL strawberries this year and would LOVE some raspberries. Maybe I need to move it all around and find better spots.

mulching really helps me Stacey ..both to control weeds and o make the soil retain water and nutrients and stay an even temperature . I just buy plain wood chips ( or chip my own ) mulch from christmas trees i find in the street ....
when i started mulching i REALLY noticed the number of worms in my soil grow exponentially and the crops health and size and productivity also ... and i could use a LOT less water ...
( believe it or not I hardly have to use the hose anymore despite having a lot of containers ) yep I use mu;ch on my containers too ...
the other awesome thing about " perpetual mulch" is U rarely have to weed - U just move the mulch out of the way , plant a row of seeds and weeds mostly dont come up . The mulch also lasts from year to year and keeps your soil VERY soft so U never really have to dig either ... unless U want to dig compost in . ( usually I break down and do that and re- mulch ..but i have a SMALL garden ) . The ONLY way I could EVER manage a huge one is with a 3- 4 inch layer of mulch on the soil yes it REALLY DOES work !
