Severe pain under the breastbone

Hi guys, I'm suffering extreme pain today up j der the breastbone. I went to work and wore my skirt and tights and it feels like my tight were too tight. My dear hubby even brought me in a change of clothes but even in my trousers the pain is still bad. I rang my doctor and spoke to the nurse and she said that tight clothing on the waistline can cause gas pockets to rise up and give some awful pain. So I'm heading home now from work as the pain is too bad. Has anyone else experienced this?

Is the pain sorta between you breasts as well? I had pain between my breast and up under the right tibcage and turned out it was stones in my gallm\bladder.

do you still have yours? I would def check in with the surgeon on Monday. good luck and keep us p;osted,

No the pain isn't in between the breasts just high up in the sternum area.  I rang and spoke again to the nurse as I've come home now from work and she told me to rest and stick to fluids and if it doesn't ease up by tonight to call the after hours number and they will have a look and see what is going on. The nurse still thinks it's bad gas so hopefully she is right.  I've had a de-gas tablet as well as a Buscopan which is for bad spasms so hopefully this will ease soon.

No experience to relate but I'm swinging for you.  Hopefully the gas meds resolved it.

Thanks guys,

The pain has eased up a bit and I think the gas meds have helped. I just feel tender in the whole stomach area now. It's like I've taken big steps backwards.

Yes, I agree it could be gas.  My boyfriends' daughter gets this too and the Dr said it was gas moving around.  It feels like a stabbing pain or a throb?

I got a lot of  real bad gas pains early out .. especially if I sat up too long (  like at work )  .  I BET thats what it is .

I had to take Gas X EVERY afternoon around 3   and again around 6

Hi guys,  just to let you all know I'm feeling much better today and I slept ok last night which was good.  Not sure what the pain was but I'm heaps better today.  It may have been gas and I took all sorts of De-gas stuff so not sure if that helped or not but thanks for all your suggestions and thoughts.

Karin, this early out, it sounds like gas pockets...if you still need help getting rid of the pain, walk, rock back and forth (I did this while sitting down), and get someone to rub your back from the waist up to the neck for ay least 10 mins. Doing all three helped far more than the Gas X did and I didn't want to get use to using Gas X.
