I'm baaaaaacccckkkk!
Hello to my dearest old friends!!! I can't wait to meet everyone who joined the LW's since I've been gone!
Obesity is a lifelong disease no matter how skinny you get. The LW forum is like AA for me. I'm not an alcoholc but I am obese. So I'm here for my therapy and support :)
My surgery was 4 years ago and I maintained my loss for 3 1/2 yrs. The past 6 months have been a little rough though. My happy spot is at 105 (I'm only 4' 10.5" tall) and my pants were getting a little tight around the waist so I stepped on the scale. HOLY CRAP!!!! I actually hit 117.8. The same day my DH gave me a hug and then casually says "so...you still maintaining your 105?" I groaned "no, actually I've gained about 12 pounds". Then he says "Yeah, I can tell". I think I shot daggers from my eyes when I looked at him. He quickly recovered by saying that he just doesn't want to see me unhappy again and I should catch it before I get to that point.
I really can't blame him... he saw me so unhappy for many years and he has never cared how much I weigh. But his timing was crappy for sure!
So anyway, I've been back on track for the past 2 weeks and I'm down 4 pounds already. Only 8.8 more to go. I can do this.
I have figured out the reasons and I'd better put them down so I have something to come back and look at.
1) Not enough water
2) Too many carbs - especially bread. I've learned that I can actually eat a lot more bread than I thought I could. But just because I can, doesn't mean I should!
3) Not enough protein. Only getting about 40g/day. I know Gina...I know!
4) Not enough exercise. One surgery after another and I got out of the exercise habit. I'm now back into it and feeling better already.
5) Started drinking water WITH my meals. Big - huge - NO-NO!
BUT, here are the things I'm still doing right:
1) Religiously take my vitamin supplements every day
2) When I do eat regular food I do my best to eat protein first
3) Still don't eat hardly any sugar
So. I'm back. I have almost 9 pounds I need to take off and I am jumping back on the wagon and strapping myself in!

Welcome back. You are absolutely right, you can do this and you already know how. Good list of what will help you get there and you have a good start. A wonderful reminder to all of us that just because we can get there doesn't mean we can stay there without work.

Welcome back Bekah!!! What a brave husband you have - I doubt mine would say anything to me. He would probably let me get right back where I was rather than risking me jumping all over him(even though it would be my fault!!)
Isn't it easy to let these little things back into our lives. I see it in me everyday now. I can eat most anything without getting sick.
I know when I exercise I actually feel so much better.
Good luck and I know you can do this. Cant' wait to read more on how you are doing.

Welcome back!!! Good list of what needs to change and what you are doing that is correct. 40 grams of protein-YIKES!!!!
I am almost 10 months out, and the further out that I get, the more it is about the choices that I make, than about the surgery.
Kudos for catching it early. I am barely 4'11" so I know that every bit of weight counts. I am maintaining at about 110.2, at least for the past week.

Hey Bekah. I'm Carrie. I had my RNY surgery this past Wednesday.
I'm so thankful to have found the LW board! You veterens are so awesome!
This is a lifetime struggle. But at least you're being smart about it and catching it before things are out of control.
It's nice to meet you! I look forward to seeing more of you around here.
Hope you're having a great day.

Hi Bekah!!! I'm so glad you are back....I hope you stay awhile!!!!! I've been trying to warn our LW's about including carbs in their menus. They don't understand that the honeymoon period will end and bad habits stick around. We need someone with experience who "tells it how it is"!! I'm always afraid of offending someone.
Your DH was so worried you would lose to much so I'm glad he thinks more about you being happy and healthy and got past his fears (although my DH would have feared telling me I'm gaining weight...LOL)
Although I still post every day , I'm in the same boat as you as far as gaining a few pounds and I'm trying to get it off!! I loved it when I bounced between 109-112 but now I'm bouncing between 114-117 and I don't like it!!!! My size 2's are getting tight around the waste and the last capri's I bought were 4's....ugh!!
