Carrie, glad you are home!! It will get better..I did not know that you could add protein to coffee at starbucks!! Cool...protein drinks are trial and error, at first I hated them but I grew to like them and then found a couple that I love..The choc/mocha/chai type ones have been great so far. It's the juice ones that I can't tolerate.
Congratulations! I prayed for you and am happy that you were successful. Regarding the protein drinks, I think you just have to keep trying. I have not found any powders that I like so far. I have tried several. I drink the Adkins and EAS but I get tired of them as well. If you try the powders then add flavors and other things to them, it makes it taste better but trust me, it takes time and it's trial and error.

Someone mentioned a deviled egg and I swear I salavated!
2 weeks prior and 6 weeks post of liquids it TOO DAMN MUCH!

I'll do what I have to do....and I'll try not to complain too much. But it's really really hard.

On a positive note...thank you for your prayers. I appreciate it more than you know.

Carrie,
So glad you are home and recovering. Thank you for sharing your experience and the other members for their replies. It really helps me to know what to expect (I realize everyone is different.) Keep the positive attitude going and we will be here each step of the way! Sending you love & prayers!

I have a blog on wordpress if you want to look at it. I'm trying to keep it updated. I know reading what others had gone through was so helpful to me. In fact I was a little obsessed.

My blog is carriestewartemrick.wordpress.com if you're interested.
Thank you for your kind words and
GOOD LUCK!
Carrie
Carrie, I have been blessed in that emotionally this hasnt been too difficult for me....one never knows and it is an interesting journey. However, the first week or two was rough....not horrible but the drain caused me a lot of discomfort and once that sucker got out I felt a lot better and could actually sleep in my bed. There were a few nights when I was on fluids only where I just started thinking, why did I do this.....how could I have given up food....etc (I was also up a lot during the night as I just couldnt get comfortable). A few newbies posted these same thoughts and the responses of others who had been through it helped relieve me so much. I have not had those thoughts since. I am a rare one though in that I experienced real hunger early out so that has been interesting. Not a bad thing but not what I expected. Other than that I have healed well and feel so blessed so far.
One other thing, I had NO stamina and was out two weeks for work. When I saw the surgeon a week after surgery and told him I was feeling pretty weak, he THEN told me that returning to work at two weeks was very aggressive. That confused me as they never said anything about it and that is pretty much the norm). He recommended half days which would have been crazy for my work schedule. I did take an extra day off and gradually felt better. At about three weeks I really felt like me again. One other piece of advice and then I will stop.....if you don't go the bathrm in a few days take some stool softeners....no one told me that and I got seriously messed up. Miralax saved me but not after some VERY difficult days at two weeks post op including me being at Urgent Care the night before I returned to work (and posting an urgent message on this board!).
We are here if you need us.......it WILL be fine!

Hi Carrie! I came on here to check on you and see if you hadn't posted anything following your surgery. I'm glad you did! I was thinking of you. I'm glad you're doing so well. Take your recovery easy and don't try to do to much physically too fast. I did and messed myself up for another 2 weeks. Let me know if you need anything.
Loving my new life! I'm ever so grateful...
