long did it take for you to get your test results back??
here's the 411.
Positive for HP and finished first round of antibiotics for 14 days. I am completing another 14 days of  continued amoxicillin 500mg. Have an appt. on 7/5 to retest(breath test this time).

I was told by the nurse practioner at dr. lee's oofice that she could get the results in as little as 3 days.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE TO GET YOUR RESULTS BACK?

ps/I did use search and looked up a few questions related to this but I want current answers. Also, I have an appt. with my pcp Mon for my annual physical and I am updating her about the HP. I  think I'm going to request the endoscopy(saw the info on OH). If I can get a quick appt and it shows neg, I'm going to hae my urea test done the next day. testing for h.pylori breath test appt's are easy to get and readily available in my area.

Mine were back in a matter of days.  It should go directly to your Dr though unless you've asked for a copy of the results.

Thanks for responding. I appreciate the answer. I called the company and they said I should get my results within 1 to 3 days. They give the patient a number to check results and they submit results by computer to surgeon's office.

How were you diagnosed with the hpylori in the first place - breath test or endoscopy?  According to my gastro doctor, the endoscopy is the most accurate way to diagnose HPylori in the first place plus you also need to see if it has progressed to an ulcer or if you just have the infection.  You said you went on 2 rounds of antibiotics?  Why weren't you given the Prevpac?  There are 2 types of prevpacs and without taking one of them, the HPylori bacteria will never heal.  The first type is Amoxcillin, Biaxin and Prevacid.  You take it 3 or 4 times per day(not sure which) for 14 days and get retested - some get the breath test and some actually go back for another endoscopy for a biopsy.  Biopsy is the most accurate.  The second type of prevpac for those allergic to penecillin is: Biaxin, Flagyl, Prevacid and chewable Pepto Bismol taken 4 times per day.

If you took a second round, were you tested in between and came back positive again?  You really should ask for the endoscopy and wait for the biopsy results.  If positive, ask for the Prevpac.  Antibiotics on there own won't kill the bug.
