Good Morning. These dang hormone pills!

Ok, I asked for this. I got them to increase my hormones to full strength about a month ago and now I'm gaining. 3-4 pounds since Sunday. I'd forgotten that this is what happens to me on full strength. Calling the GYN's office today to see if they'll call in 1/2 strength for me. So, until I get a new script, I'm snapping these suckers in half. No other benefits from the full strength anyway, dang it all. Still no real libido. Maybe they do my bones good, but I can't see or feel that. Anyway, that's what I'm doing today...oh, and calling the surgeon's office again to get them to send me my recent labs. Short list of labs, BTW. They missed a few things in Feb and the dietitian gave me a short list. I love that she is on the same sheet of music with me. She knows what my goals are for my labs and works with me to get there. We are experimenting with the timing of taking vitamin K1. I take K1 4 days a week in the morning with my big batch of vitamins and 3 times a week I take it at bedtime with only Proferrin. Big labs to be drawn in Sep, so we'll see. Y'all humor me with my vitamin talk, ok? It calms my mind. Ahhh....

What's on your to-do list today?

Good job on keeping up with those labs Gina.  If we dont keep on top of them, who will?!    My today list includes taking my daughter to her Drs appt.  She goes weekly now.... only about 5 weeks to go.  Also have some housecleaning planned.  Today also marks the 1 yr anniv of my sons car accident.  We are still dealing with the aftermath of it.  Hope everyone has a great day.  Cindy

No meetings HURRAY.  I do have a Chrio appt but hope to catch up on some paperwork and get at least one pony driven.  And of course, spend more time checking out my new horse trailer, figureing out where to put everything and starting to cleam out the old one to sell it.

Hi Gina,

I had a bi-ovarian hysterectomy 25 years ago and have been on hormone treatment ever since as I have no ovaries to produce any natural hormones at all.  I have found that the Oestrogen patches work the best for me as they are a transdermal patch and by having it this way it bypasses the breakdown in the liver entering our bodies.

Get your doctor to check your testosterone level too as "women of a certain age" slow down in our production of this male hormone in our makeup. Many years ago I had absolutely no libido and I had a testosterone implant put in under the skin.  It certainly helped in my energy levels as well as the bedroom area.  These days I just can't be bothered and maybe that urge will come back to me but right now my energy levels are pure crap.

Cheers from Karin (in Oz)

Have you thought about bioidentical hormone replacement instead of synthetic hormones? I am getting ready to go for a consult on BIHR and will keep you posted.

I take K1 and K2 once a day  My K levels rose quite a bit, but I'm going to continue as they aren't closer to the top of the range.

Sending Stacey some of my extra vits I can't (or won't) take since I like chewables better.  She's getting some of my D3 50K (not as many left as I thought), Citracel Petites and big ones, seeing if she needs some papaya enzymes as well as multi-vits.  Oh - I also have Magnesium and Potassium if someone needs/wants them.

Oh - BTW I'm home.  What a LONG and exhausting drive.  Glad I pushed myself yesterday to get most of the miles in before stopping for the night - today's drive was much more manageable that way.

Told Alan me driving down was NOT going to be a common occurrence.  I'll be flying from now on.  Great airfare from Grand Rapids to Houston non-stop.  I'll be taking advanrage of that.  Told him to get internet by winter as I may be blessing him for a few weeks during the winter.  With this new job I can work from anywhere...

Hope your day went well!  Waiting for Tom to get home then... .. my libido hasn't suffered..
