I'm 10 weeks out as of yesterday. I started at 252 pre op, day of surgery 234, today 198. In that last week I've gotten very hungry all the time, thinking I'm not eating enought possibly. I'm getting my protein in. Here is a typical day, I'm still hungry. Help! can you give some ideas on what to eat at 10 weeks out, menu ideas?

B - scoop of protein in coffee 23g
S - either boiled egg, string cheese, half protein bar or rice cake with tbls peanut butter
L - 2-3 oz lean protein with maybe 3/4 to a cup of lettuce ( I dip my fork in dressing maybe 4 times)
S - Syntrax Nectar protein drink 23g
D - 2-3 oz lean protein with either salad or cooked veggie
S - 6-7 roasted almonds and or s/f fudgesicle
I've been trying having around 800 calories (NUT said 600-800), and I've been getting in at least 80 grams of protein

Your plan looks great. When do you feel the hunger the most?  You can always add another protein shake or boiled egg.  As long as you're keeping your carbs low, and it looks like you are, don't worry about the calories too much.

Are you getting in all of your water?  You are doing pretty good calorie wise for 2 mo out.  Are you sure it is not head hunger?  For me, I try to eat beans (added protein) such as edamme or diced tomatoes with black beans and garlic with my luch and dinner.  Lettuce is a slider food and to me is not of value. However, I do eat salad spinach.  Also I have a protein shake before I leave home and then eat breakfast, i.e egg white omelet with turkey sausage, spinach and cheese Then have another protein shake before lunch.  If I start my day off like that I am good the rest of the day and if I have a day where I am really hungry I add an evening shake to get me through to bedtime.

Maybe try adding and actual breakfast instead of just a snack in place of breakfast in the morning?

Hope that helps.

I was thinking the same thing about breakfast, the shake just doesn't fill me up or keep me satisfied at all. I'm might try your omlet idea. I don't think it's head hunger? because my stomach is growling & rumbling.

I also deal with hunger....we are sisters from afar!  Ha!

You may want to add another protein coffee or shake later in the morning since mornings are worse.  I sometimes will eat part of a protein bar late morning or a piece of cheese.  I also do a shake in late afternoon if hungry or I make my own protein pudding which has a good amount of protein in it.  Like you I worry about calories.....I sometime envy those who have no hunger.  Arggghh!

its not hunger due to hormones?? I know when its that time for me nothing fills me up...Like you said I might try an omelet in the morning or maybe just switch your breakfast and snack..have the boiled egg for breakfast and then as a snack have the protein coffee?? Make sure you are getting your water in between all that too..and I wonder if you might be having some ingestion?? I know when I get hearburn it feels like I am very hungry..sounds like calorie wise though you are doing really good.

Welcome to the lightweight forum! :)

Are you taking an acid reducer like Nexium, etc? Excess acid can mimic hunger as well.

good luck and check out the Menus ns Miles thread!

I would skip the carbs entirely and just eat protein all the time...carbs can play with your blood sugar and make you hungrier particularly if you are sensitive as we all are...stomach acid is a big culptrit as well so make sure you are taking your prilosec or whatever you have been prescribed...and finally there is HEAD hunger...it's not real hunger...it's the desire to eat...it never goes away and
just has to be kept under control...when I get it I sit quietly and really focus on my stomach and ask myself if it is hungry....it is not growling...it has no pangs...it's quiet but my head is screaming to put something in my mouth...that's HEAD hunger...also all of you water...I have protein drink right before bed ....i would have a protein shake instead of fudgesicles  or almonds...because really who can eat just 7..? not me...good luck...you'll be fine..SEAVIEW...
