What blood tests should I be asking for?

Appt with PCM Friday.  I'm asking for:

CBC (to check anemia, and B12 levels)
SMAC 24 "Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (sugar, cholesterol, calcium and hepatic functioning).

I will have fasted since midnight the night before.

I have a sleeve since Feb10, 2011, so I'm 4 months out.  What else should I be asking for?  Any ideas let me know.

How do they test potasium?  I have also had dizzy moments in the garden, after exercise, probably a hydration issue.

Also getting referred for the upper GI examination and barium swallow test, but that will happen at a later date.

Thanks!!

Here is the list of what ALL WLS patients should have tested as well as the target levels to aim for: Labs & Targets

There are many of them that you normally would not even think of...an average draw is well over 12 tubes.

This is the list that I have been getting since the beginning. I feel that many people are getting the above list which are many unneccessary tests.  Granted some may need them but they aren't needed as a whole.

Here is a more general, concise list that sticks to what we need to measure all our vitamins, minerals and checks all the functions of the different body systems - liver, kidney, blood levels, various types of anemia, protein levels, thyroid, diabetes.

CBC with Diff, comprehensive metabolic panel, lipid panel, PTH and calcium, iron, TIBC, iron sat%, ferritin, folate, B12, B1, B6, A, E, K, vit D25 hydroxy, zinc, selenium, magnesium, Hem A1C, TSH,

Your potassium is a blood test done as part of your comprehensive metabolic panel.

If you are getting dizzy in the garden, make sure you bring out a water bottle with you and keep drinking while you are out there.  Also, eat a banana before you go outside to give yourself a little extra potassium
