Stalled for a week.. only 3 weeks out! X-post

I've tried so hard to not be irritated. I've seen plenty of folks go through stalls. My NUT even warned me that a stall was coming at about a month out. Well, since my 2nd week (last Tuesday), I've been stalled. Nothing. Not even a half ounce has been lost. Now I'm irritated.

I know the drill. Make sure you're getting protein and fluids, watch how much you eat, chew chew chew, get more exercise. I'm doing it all! I'm working on getting more protein as I'm just under 40g a day.

This doesn't do my state of mind any good. I'm trying so hard to stay positive... but now, I'm going through the doubt stage, wondering if I'll be the one in a million this surgery won't work for. But that's BS and I hate pity parties.

I'm frustrated and don't know what more to do.

Advice would be more then welcome.

that's why I didn't weight myself for the first 3 months...you are doing everything you can possibly due now it will just take some time for your body to adjust...I would suggest to lay off the scale for a little bit

Kelly, the same thing happened to me. I lost 30 pounds in two weeks and them BAM!!!! I hit a stall for three long weeks. I even gained a couple of pounds. Then at 5 weeks out I started dropping weight again. When I started losing again I was actually starting to worry I might be losing too fast. Hang in there, follow the plan, and try to stay off the scale. It will drive you crazy. (It wasn't a very long drive for me!).

RNY on 10/21/08 with
Kelly - did you take your measurements before surgery?  I took mine before surgery and every month on my anniversary date.  That's the only thing that keeps you sane during this time is you can measure and see the inches are still falling off even though the scale doesn't tell you so.  Then one day - BAM - it'll start again.

I know its frustrating but hide the scale, stay off (yea, look who's talking - I was SUCH  a scale *****) and just keep doing the right things.  It WILL happen.

Hang tough there!!

Ahhhh yes, the dreaded 3 week stall.  It happened to me too.  I was convinced that I had failed my wls.  Mine lasted approx 3 weeks..... then bam, the scale started moving again.   Hang in there, keep following the program,  the scale will move again.  Cindy

As having JUST experienced this for the past 2 weeks, i know all too well how you are feeling! Along with making sure you get your fluids, proteins, vitamins, and exercise, think about when you are due for T.O.M....I was STUCK between 211-213 from week 3 until yesterday, when that happened. Now I'm not sure if it is because I upped my calories, protein, fluids, etc...or the bloating was to blame, but I am down to 205. The moral of the story is: Be patient :) Also, think about where you will be next month! I bet you will be lighter! A year from now! Thinking about the future really encourages me. Help this helped! Keep up the good work!!!!

Thanks all. Jody, I did take my measurements and redid them yesterday. I've lost 2" just about everywhere. My husband couldn't "find" where he'd measured before so it looked like I grew in some places. urgh!

I know I should avoid the scale and try to think of the future. But let's be honest... when we have this surgery, life seems to become all about the surgery. Eating, drinking, exercising, measuring, weighing. I can't just turn it all off and ignore it. I want to know that what I did to my body is worth it.

I'm gonna post the couple of pics I took before and last week, maybe you all can tell me if you see a difference.

Everyone wonders at least once if the surgery is going to work for them.  It sounds to me like you are successfull already...you are a normal WLS person....YEAH!!!!

I know stalls are terrible but it's part of the process so try not to get to worked up abut it.   Your body needs to get adjusted every once in awhile.  Jody's right about the inches.  I always lost inches during my stalls.   I measured myself....there is no way I would ever let my DH see my measurements....LOL

Protein and water are the most important things for you to worry about getting in.  Are you getting your protein from food or drinks?  Getting your protein up to at least 60 will help some.

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

Oh dear.....you've definitely hit "THE STALL"!  This too shall pass!  I remember freaking out and then I reminded myself how LITTLE I was eating each day and I rationed that there is NO way I CAN'T be losing weight!

I was one of those who couldn't stay off the scale...no matter how many people told me to.  I weighed, marked the number in my daily journal and patiently waited for the stall to break...and it did!

The bad news?  More stalls are ahead...get used to them and know that they will pass too.
You are doing great!  Hang in there!
