Been here a long time this morning waiting for company...just waiting. Doesn't anybody on the west coast have insomnia any more?

Ah, well. The older doggy got me up at 4:15 this morning and wouldn't go back to sleep. Otherwise, I'd be snoozing too. So, I'm up and just started breakfast. Bacon, sausage and eggs. The usually Sunday second breakfast. DH is out walking the "Newt" and he'll be going out to play golf this morning. Son#2 will be playing cards or D&D or something with Son#1 and the guys today...again...just like yesterday. I'm going to go tanning this morning and beyond that, I have no plans, so I'll be here and on Facebook.

Whatcha got going today?

Not much going on here, just trying to stay cool and let Don heal. No other plans except hang around the house.

Cooking sausage right now, made pancakes the other morning, we can't eat all we make in one batch so I put them in the fridge and microwave them with butter later on.

But I apparently needed lots of sleep last night as I went to bed around 8 and didn't crack my eyes open until after 6AM.

Today will be my only day off this week.  So it'll be a marathon to get everything done: laundry, grocery shopping, hair appointment, exercise, and then next thing I know the day will be done.

I slept like a rock last night and am trying to come awake now with my coffee.  Last night DH and I went out to dinner at a nice restaurant.  I made the mistake of eating a few bites of bread with olive oil before dinner.  I could only eat about 1 oz of my chicken, and the rest of my meal had to be slipped into a doggie bag.

I've been finding that I'm embarrassed by my small amount of eating.  I feel like I stick out like a sore thumb, and I always go out of my way to tell the wait staff how good it was, but that I just couldn't eat much.  Next week I have to go to dinner with some high executives, and I'm dreading it.  Does anyone else get embarrassed?

IKWYM about being embarrassed sometimes. I found that if I didn't eat during the day, I could eat more normally later in the day but I can't be rushed...at all.

I used to get embarrased too but now that I'm at goal I think they can tell by looking at me that I don't eat much (at least in my mind that's what they think...LOL)

yeah I find it a little embarrassing at times..except when im with my husband but when im out with a group of people like that I will order a salad because I know I can eat "a lot" of salad..I just slowly munch on it and no one notices that im only able to eat half of it because they are only eating half of what they are eating too...its not exactly a protein first technique but it is a way to fit it socially and its not like that happens everyday so it works for me..

Hi Gina!  Hey - I was up at 4:30 this morning, dog wanted out - and I was on here for a bit, then went back to bed.

Housecleaning today.  Tonight is the weekly dinner for the kids and my daughter, son in law and grandbaby will be here - I'm excited!!

My battery died on my car and we have get that jumped and going.

I'm making another trip to Houston.  Alan got an apartment and all his stuff is in my storage unit here, so I need to go picking through and get stuff to take to him, but first I have to get my Trailblazer in the shop for a buzzing sound that's coming from the rear right speaker.  I've had it in the shop numerous times already and they can't find it.  I HAVE to get it fixed before I go because by the time I get back my extended warranty (mile wise) will be up....

I was online yesterday looking at the humane societies and shelters for dogs.  They all seem to have BIG dogs, I want a LITTLE dog... so I wait.  I'm not in a big hurry and when the time is right it will happen.

Have you checked rescue for a specific breed?

I've checked all the ones around within a 100 mile radius.  Went online and saw what they had there - all big dogs.  Seem people here who tire of their hunting dogs dump them at rescue.

All the little ones they have, seem to have specific medical issues or behavioral issues, must be why they're still there.  I'm not looking for a specific breed - I'm open to that.  I need to do some research on the different breeds. I don't even need a puppy, but think it would be easier to introduced a puppy into this household than an older dog.  Toms kids bring their brood of dogs over every Sunday and we have 4 of them all tearing around - from a miniature dachsund to a Great Pyranese.  The other 2 are an English Setter (Toms dog) and a mixed Jack Russel and terrier.  I like the size of the russel/terrier.

Hi everyone,

I am just learning to deal with eating out and around others. We went out last night too, w/friends, should say the man is great, his wife not so much after my weight loss! But oh well...learning to deal with things have been my journey with my tool. I just eat less, and slow as possible. If others look at me odd I turn my head and chatter to those around me...if you talk a lot I think they figure out that is why I am not eating. (I am sure it's all in my head....but it works)

As for me, I haven't been on the board much these days...missing all the reading. But my quiet times are spent studying with the kids for the scuba class each afternoon for a hour or more. It's going to be a long study time....and even longer real class time. One step at a time....
