Trying to figure it out

I haven't posted for awhile because everything was going along so well...slow but I was losing a little each wee****il the last 3 weeks or so.  About the 1st of May or so, I started getting super tired in the afternoon.  Not just a little but EXHAUSTED.  I would have to take a nap.  I thought it was my thyroid so contacted the surgeon's office.  They ordered CBC, B12, D etc.  All came back within normal range.  I have found that the only thing that gets me through the day is coffee.  I have GERD and that isn't the best solution but I have to function.  The only thing that happened in the last couple of months is that I had a cortisone shot in my knee the first of April, had a reaction to it with blood sugar going way up.  My insulin resistance was almost gone with my 6 month bloodwork but was really bad again with my 9 month bloodwork.  My exercise is the same (5-6 days a week for 50 minutes or so).  I have noticed that I feel hungrier than before and more irritable.  Stress has been a factor because of husband's job and child moving home.  My weight has started to creep up the last few weeks...about 3.5#.  I was 10# from goal.  Now I'm almost 14#.  Can stress alone cause this slowdown or should I be looking at something else? Right now, I am tempted to go back to liquid diet and try to get it under control before I gain any more back.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Once you get your lab work, post the results so the gurus here can help...I'm sure it's probably vitamin/mineral related.

As for your insulin resistance, trying going lower carb and focus on proteins instead.

I agree with Liz. Try going back to low carb and good quality protein shakes. Also, let's see if your iron markers are good--iron, ferritin, hematocrit and hemoglobin.

Stress can affect so many things....have you tried progressive relaxation?

I use a pr cd a few times a week and it is amazing how relaxed I feel afterwards. It helps for the next few days too. Carolyn McManus has a really good one I think you can get through Amamzon or half.com

Hopefully your labs show something so you can start correcting it.

Do you take something for the GERD?

Thanks for your posts.  Last tests were in April.  Not sure what would be relevant.  They test for total protein - 6.8, albumin was 4.6, B-12 was 14, Vit D was 90. I don't see ferritin or anything like it but it may be called something else...maybe HGB ? was 13.3.  I had my thyroid retested and TSH was 1.77, T3 was within normal range.  My carbohydrates are about 30 grams per day.  What should they be at this stage?  I try to get about 100 grams of protein per day; sometimes only get in 80-90.  I'm pretty careful about taking my supplements but not sure I'm absorbing them.  I take Rx Axid for GERD..150 mg, 4X a day (can't tolerate any PPI) and Carafate.  I have been taking these since the surgery but have recently increased Axid to 4x a day instead of 2x.

Your protein and vit D looks good. What is the range for the B12? Is 14 a typo? Most of our ranges top off at around 900-1000 and we shoot over that a bit. Ferritin will be posted on it's own if they tested it. It's your iron stores.

Carbs are good between 30 and 50 and protein is good right at 100.

Sorry, I don't know anything about GERD or thyroid issues.
