This was posted on the Michigan Forum and I thought it was very good information.  It covers vitamin deficiencies, how the new stomach works, food intolerances, etc.  I know we are having more and more people on this board who have had or thinking of having VSG and this article may put some perspective on what you know or need to know.  I also learned a lot from it as I thought VSG was strictly restrictive, but this article says that how food is processed, etc is altered.

This website is a must-see for everyone.  It covers all surgeries and has a wealth of information on it.  I've bookmarked it and will go back often to see what's new.

Thanks Jody!!!!

My DH is doing pre-op classes for the VSG.  He didn't like the idea of having the RNY like me.  I will def. share this with him.  Thanks for sharing!

Love the tips in the link re slowing down when eating --- use your non-dominant hand or chop sticks. I need some chopsticks!!!

Thx for posting this article.

I can actually eat faster with chopsticks than with a fork and spoon. Once you get good at chopsticks, they are excellent shoveling implements. I hate that weight loss people always say to eat with chopsticks.

Oh Abby you are a hoot!!! The article did say "unless you are good at using chopsticks".

Jody,

Thank you for posting the link to this article. It was indeed very informative and helpful. I e-mailed the link to my PCP and bariatric internist. The bariatric specialist probably knows this information, but I wasn't sure about my PCP. I came across some of this information, when I was researching the VSG, but some of the information was new.

Thank you,

Gail
